However the Hatch point you made is pretty valid.

thanks!

hatch was on campus as a backup in 2007, but you can't tell me 9 months isn't enough time to teach shep 10 plays.

ALMOST one month for ONE play...

instead gary tries to teach him 3 fricking positions.

this is the coaching that some people are defending.

I dont even know why I argue, if someone looks at shep in those videos and says he cant throw or play QB in this league their just fricking moronic...Yall ever remember Arnez Battle, yeah, he could run the option but that guy could throw a ball 70 yards....He went to Notre Dame and had to become a WR only after he broke his wrist in the Neb game...Shep reminded me of him when I saw him play in high school, just not the same kind of power arm...but he does have touch on his pass...

The problem with this is that after a few games everone has those 10 plays on film and they know exactly what hes going to do when he steps on the field.

Im not saying he shouldnt have seen the field more. My argument is that none of us were at practice...none of us know what the deal was. So none of us can say with certainty why he wasnt on the field more. Just sayin...

Not nice calling Shep fricking moronic. He's the one that said he can't play QB in this league.

But the real questions is: Can he throw from the "sitting down" position?

why couldn't they use him like they used andrew hatch?
Hatch was better at managing the offense than Lee was, and Lee "has a cannon for an arm". We see where that got us.

If RS is even half as good at throwing the football as Hatch (which isn't saying much), and with his running ability and the multi-threat options with other players on the field simultaneously that can confuse defenses, suddenly our offense is not predictable and even dare I say dangerous.

Crowton is an idiot for not realizing this.

You really did not know this? He has no desire to play QB anymore.

I laugh every time I hear the "best" players are not playing because the rant is upset that some freshman is not getting enough playing time. Shep has his chances to get more playing time and he had trouble lining up correctly and holding on to the ball. In addition, he got dumped on his head a couple of times because he is undersized with an aggressive running style. He is a great talent but needs time to mature and learn the offense better so you don't have to hold your breath every time he comes on the field.

I agree that he needs to mature but with us being so horrible on offense I would trade immaturity for explosive ability. With everyone on the planet knowing RS was going to run the ball he had by far the highest YPC @ 6.2 (2nd on the team was the other misused back KW @ 5.3) and he had the longest offensive play from scrimmage @ 69 yds. Now just imagine if the defense had any doubt if he would throw it or not, the YPC would likely go up and it would open up opportunities for other players. He did get dumped on his head etc (so did Percy Harvin)BTW he got up, but he is also the most explosive player we have and for us to be successful we have to find ways to get playmakers involved. Also, I think our inability to blow teams out affects the development of our young talent. There is never a good time to get these guys reps b/c we are not putting away the cupcakes on our schedule, when was the last time LSU actually was able to make wholesale substitutions b/c we had a game wrapped up early (I really can't remember the last time that happened).

I'm not reading all this crap, but I watched 4 minutes of your first link and he doesnt throw the ball once.

Every single play was a designed run or a scramble.

You fail.

The underusage/misuse of Shep this past year was borderline criminal by Crowton and Miles. If you look at the #1 dual threat QB from the year before-where is he now- leading OSU to a Rose Bowl win. Although shorter, Shep in high school was a better passer than Pryor and may be quicker. Miles and Crowton may have just stuck with JJ out of stubborness and one good Chickfila bowl game.
