Hi guys, I just wanted to pop in another Jefferson and Lee debate
Posted on 7/23/10 at 4:26 pm to tduecen
Chicken really needs "Team Lee" and "Team Jefferson" as a favorite team option

Except this didn't happen. Teams never played more than 6 or 7 in the box against LSU in 2009.
We'll just disagree here. when a team has 3 LBers on teh field and we have 4-5 WRs and we STILL can't pass, then there's a problem.

This isn't an opinion. You can go back and watch the games. After the 3rd game of the season, no one was playing more than seven in the box against LSU.

In 2008, Lee was sacked 28 times in 269 attempts, thats one sack for every 10 attempts.

which would explain the INT's and completion % difference being as JJ never threw the ball.

I remember it FAR differently than you do. I'll go back though before I go further on this point.

I know Lee looked awful in the La Tech game, but why do people conveniently overlook the fact that he MOVED the ball in 2008. I know he threw pick sixes, but those same people made excuses for Jefferson for last year too. Who's to say he hasn't improved? Granted the spring game doesn't mean shite, but how can anyone honestly say the Offense didn't work better with him? It looks like D was the bigger problem and a young QB just took his growing pains and wasn't allowed to grow into the next year. Instead we put in a QB whose only goal was to "not throw an INt."
Ding ding ding. We have a winner. Some people "Get It", many don't.
Of all the mistakes LM/GC have made since they've been here, pulling JL as the starter and not even giving him any significant snaps (especially early on) in 2009 was the biggest. How's he supposed to learn how to read defenses and see the field better and correct his mistakes by sitting on the GD bench? At least we move the ball, score points and run some semblance of a college level offense with him in there. The "Nevousness" and Picks/Pick 6's will ONLY be eliminated with a lot of playing time.
(You've been reading my posts, huh?).........

You're right. Just double checked it with ESPN. I had to get the sacks from a different website than the one I was using for the other statistics. That's a pretty big fricking typo. I'll correct.

That's the major thing with lee. Always get rid of the ball while jj never does

While I think Jefferson's sack total is beyond ridiculous, when given the option of high sacks/low turnovers to low sacks/high turnovers, I'm taking the lower turnovers.

Does the water boy have that good of an arm?

He's on the bench, so his arm is obviously better than whoever we start at QB.

Even if it yields an offense like last year's?
FWIW, I'm not saying it's JJ's fault, as I've actually supported both QB's to this issue, but he is not the clear cut #1 like some think. LINK
At some point taking no chances down field gets to the point of overkill and puts us out of position to win just as much as turnovers do.

Is he African American or Caucasian so I can determine if I am a racist or not according to some

you make a solid case for JJ if your numbers are correct.

The biggest problem with the offense last year was the rushing game. But yes, even with the offense last year, I take lower turnovers. Turnovers cost games, plain and simple.

Crowton is biggest culprit by far. I actually like Lee, I think he's a decent guy and he may have made a good QB had we not allowed Crowton get his hands on him. I just think that Jefferson is better all around and the vast majority of the numbers support this.

I don't see Lee starting unless Jefferson goes down with an injury (which is completely possible).

This changes with a running game. You keep defense defending the run and the field opens up. We don't have a prayer if we can't run the ball this season.

He's Hispanic with a little bit of Eskimo.
Ponder that for a while.
