i'm going to give him more time before saying that. he shows signs, like in the arky game, that he is turning the corner. i'm on his side; seems like a quality young man that is doing his best and a great rep for his family and LSU.

He's less athletic than Mauck and Flynn people only call him an athlete because he's black.

And "athletes" can't be QBs? If so what keeps them from being QBs. I think I would want my QB to be an athlete, the more athletic, the better.

There is an obvious double standard that JJ and JR have been subjected to

GFY-I wanted Davey over Booty and JR over Flynn. I don't care if he is green, JJ is not a very good QB, nor do I think he ever will be. If RS gives us the best team on the field, then play him, if it's CG, then play him. Who gives a rats behind in this day in time what color he is. I would submit that by bringing this crap in here, YOU are the racist, not the other critics that have not brought it up.

What do you base this off of? It can't be the fact that Jefferson's numbers are just about the same if not better than JaMarcus Russell's Sophomore year stats.

Steve Young
John Elway
Joe Montanna
Roger Staubach
Fran Tarkington
Joe Theisman
Doug Flutie
Doug Williams

What a QB is known as is what people like you label them as. Whether the label is based on fact or fiction. The above listed are all great athletes and were great in other sports as well. They each have excellent speed, strong arms, jumping ability, quick refexes and strength. Each was a multi-sport star in high school. There are many more who could be added to the list.

They just were not of the group who would be identified or labeled as athletes despite the fact they each was a great athlete. Notice I did not include Marino. Although he is a great athlete as well. He injured his knees which slowed him down. In college he was a great athletic QB.

If you can't see the difference in the treatment of JJ & JR versus Mauch, Flynn and Lee, then you are either stupid, blind or you are the racist. Compare their numbers versus how they have been treated by your type "fans". Compare Flynn versus JR even up to this date. There are those who cheer JR's struggles. But let Flynn hold on a field goal.

Bring up race as an issue and who do you think will be most negative to the subject??????

Vince Young
Tommie Frazier
Mike Vick
Matt Flynn
Randall Cunningham
Pat White
Jim Zorn
Bobby Douglass

YOU brought up race not me. Yeah, JR spent a lot of his early time throwing passes into the dirt in front of his receivers, but clearly the potential was there. Don't see that in JJ. There might be some that would say we would not have won it all in 2007 with JR as our QB, but I am not one of them.

And Mauch, Flynn and Lee only threw perfect passes? They never threw passes in the dirt? Or you just don't remember? What I remember first of JR was him bringing us back against Oregon State. And him bringing us back against Iowa in the Cap One Bowl replacing an ineffective Flynn. He completed 60+ % of his passes during his career. Yet you remember passes thrown in the dirt.

You don't see potential in JJ? Considering that when you think of JR you see passes in the dirt, I guess I understand you not seeing potential in JJ. Do you see potential in Lee? Garrett? What we see in the world is based on our view of the world. And thats my point.

I am not talking about Mauck or Flynn, and especially not Lee. You brought up AA quarterbacks being held to different standards and I called (from my perspective) BS. Lee, imo, has some good physical skills, but I think he is ruined here by poor coaching and an unforgiving fanbase. He might do well playing elsewhere, but I don't think anyone can mentally overcome what he faces here. Garrett? I have no idea, only what I saw in the Spring game and at the scrimmage I got to attend. He certainly looks to have a much better motion and release than JJ. I don't want to just keep shuffling, I want someone that is going to give us the best chance to win.
