Nikki Fargas is 123–86 overall and 50–46 in the SEC at LSU. And the point is she seems to have a pretty good team this year.

Cons:
Trent Johnson

Obviously I agree in hindsight, but how many people were unhappy with this hire at the time? When he was at Stanford, they made the tourney 4/5 years prior to him arriving at LSU. His first year at LSU, we were a lot of fun to watch and won the SEC. Frankly, that team could've made a deep run if not for facing the eventual champions, UNC, in the second round. As a side note, that was the last time Johnson led a team to the NCAA tournament. Dude just stopped caring about his job or ran out of good players I guess.

Don't get me wrong...frick Joe Alleva and basically anyone else with decision-making authority at LSU, but Trent Johnson was a good hire at the time.

Absolutely not. He took a Stanford program that was always in the top 10 and started them on a big downfall.

He had zero. ZERO other coaching offers.

He had no leverage to negotiate any buyout much less the one he got. And he has a lengthy contract that should be enough for recruiting purposes

Orgeron accepted LSU job 2 days after the regular season ended. How many openings do you think there were? How do you know he wasn't being considered for one of the few openings? How do you know he wouldn't have been considered had he not quickly accepted the LSU job?

A 'lengthy contract" doesn't mean shite if there isn't a buyout or guaranteed money to make it less attractive for the employer to terminate the contract. Orgeron's ability to recruit is predicated on his relationship with potential players and that he will continue to be the coach after they enroll. LSU basically had to give Orgeron leverage in order to negate other schools from using that issue as a negative recruiting tool. Hell, LSU was on a much bigger hook with Miles and that uncertainty cost us recruits.

How would anyone have known about the downfall prior to it happening though, captain hindsight? Stanford's last season under Mike Montgomery, the Josh Childress squad that was a #1 seed, lost in the second round. Johnson took over and had a respectable record, including a 28-8 sweet sixteen team the year prior to LSU hiring him. Stanford has had Johnny Dawkins as HC for almost 10 years now, so blaming Trent Johnson for their basketball ineptitude is convenient for your not-so-well-thought-out argument.

Because he couldn’t even beg Syracuse for an INTERVIEW the year before. What did he do since then? Beat a bunch of scrubs running the ball with Fournette?

You are delusional

Orgerons actual contract isn't bad per year wise. It's the buyout that's ridiculous.

Why the frick would Syracuse hire a coach with a losing record whose recruiting ties are in the Deep South? You think elite players in SEC states are going to want to freeze their arse off in upstate New York getting their asses kicked week in and week out by Miami, Clemson, FSU, Georgia Tech, etc?
