there is a marketing department for that kind of stuff
athletic directors are behind every single business decision that takes place in an athletic department, and if you think the most successful ones are the ones that just market, you are insane. they make all the hires, both for internal departments as well as coaches, they oversee everything.

not sure if any of the rest of you have communicated directly with our AD but he is down right rude, arrogant and disrespectful - Duke was relieved he left

Joe Alleva should not have been hired as LSU's AD for the simple reason that he was at the helm of Duke athletics when the lacrosse coach was fired and several of the players kicked out of school and vilified publicly, based on false accusations by at best a stripper and at worst a prostitute whose story turned out to be a lie. Mr.Alleva went along with the politically correct position of firing a white coach and consenting to the dismissal of white student athletes because they were accused by a black stripper. Had the coach and students been black and the stripper white, no such action would have taken place.
