the Lee haters on this board need to come to grips that he is a twisted ankle or a bent pinkie finger away from being LSU's starting QB again.

Time for you folks to hope both QB's have improved because LSU WILL....definitely will need both of them this season.

Yes, if I keep stating facts, I will eventually believe them. Like I said, I'm a proponent of neither, but JJ has the better leg to stand on based on Lee's one huge deficiency. He gives points to the other team. In one season, he DIRECTLY gave 49 points to the opposition. Not to mention that they scored off of some of his OTHER 9 interceptions.

Nothing, just general banter. I was agreeing with you and amending my previous comment, just did it badly.

Also, on the "leadership" thing. In 2008, that team basically quit on Lee. Now, I'm not going to up and blame a freshman for not standing up to upperclassmen and getting them to play hard. Nevertheless, we had a pretty heartbreaking loss against Ole Miss last year, and Jefferson and the rest of the team showed up and pulled off a win in OT against Arkansas to close out the regular season. It appeared that the team at least believed in Jefferson last year which didn't seem evident in 2008.

See, a minute ago, you were saying that unless you praised JJ, you were considered a hater. Now, unless I praise Lee, I'm a hater?

I will say I'm glad LSU has a backup with experience. A lot of teams wish they did too. But as backup, how did he perform last season? Put up some stats.

I could break out the 112 word but I could see its not gonna register with you.

And fwiw you do realize that was going on 2 yrs ago as a fresh player... of course you dont, you dont even take it into consideration and thats the problem I have with you and like minded people.

Perhaps...and that's fine, if he wins out. I want the one back there that gives LSU the best opportunity to win...and that means doesn't give the other team opportunities sometimes.

I would prefer Lee in a final drive situation over JJ, particularly if the clock was an issue. Maybe because JJ has been so awful, don't know...but it is my opinion.

If by Byrd, you mean the team quit on him then I agree, halfway through the season. I don't think one player makes a team but if you have proof of your statement feel free to link it here in support of your statement.

No, I didn't. You have a link?

OK...let's go to the spring game. OR, like I said, how'd he do last season as backup? How about that dramatic comeback against Bama? How about that brilliant clinic against LA friggin' TECH!

That's just it. Based on everything we've seen, I don't understand how any LSU fan could honestly think that Lee will outplay Jefferson to win the starting spot.

Now, if Lee somehow channeled his inner Drew Brees, then so be it. But based on actual play, there is really no argument that Lee should be given the starting job over Jefferson.

I like to think that if Jefferson can grow and get better then so could Lee.

Both have something holding them back from being better than they are. Both seem to have a mental block the hinders them.

bs... they gave up on shitty arse defense and that frick Dbyrd.
that group was a far bigger thorn in LSU's side than a fresh qb named JL.

And how about that rushing attack. Did that not factor into that 112 number? Where were we rated at passing vs where were we rated at rushing last season? You'll say we couldn't rush because teams stacked the line...and I'd have to agree somewhat. But the OL NEVER stepped up.

I agree here. Nothing Lee can do will keep JJ from starting.

But, LSU fans need to come to grips with the fact that Lee will play this season, and Lee needs some prep time as well.

CAREER STATS

LEE: 159/309 2070 yds 16TD/17INT 51.5% 6.7 YPA
JJ: 218/369 2585 yds 21TD/8 INT 59.1% 7.0 YPA

So... Jefferson throws for more yards per attempt, has a much higher compeltion percentage, has more total yards, finds the end zone more frequently, throws a lot less picks, AND he's a better runner.

Seriously, how is this even a debate? What has Lee ever done to make anyone think he is a better option than Jefferson? Jefferson's actually been a pretty efficient player.
