So is he implying racial motivations or not? What is so "sickening" about it if people don't like the guy because of how he acts or something along those lines?

Because people really don't know the kid, aren't in the locker room, haven't had a conversation with him, etc. They're reacting to their unverified assumptions and emotions to judgments (in this case etched permanently in stone, apparently). It's become pathological among some fans.
