Does anyone remember that--did he sing the words correctly?
Yes, I remember. He's got a pretty good singing voice. I believe he sang God Bless America or some other patriotic song; can't remember if botched the lyrics.

I was teasing about his getting the words right. They actually played some of it through the radio.
According to LSUSports.net, in the LSU Sports Staff Directory, under LSU Sports Properties (Sponsorship Sales & Broadcast), Hawthorne is listed as "Director of Broadcasting". If I am reading this correctly, his immediate supervisor is Walt Wyatt, General Manager. There are several tiers above Hawthorne, so there are a few apparently who are happy with him.

Look, I thought we needed to get rid of John Ferguson too. But what an arse I was because he was the voice of The Tigers and I regreted every time I had spoken negativley about the man. I really missed his voice.
Yeah Jim makes mistakes but you are young and have alot to learn and I will promise you when he leaves you will look back and have fond memeories . It takes a long time to get use to another Voice of The Tigers.
You are just a little young to understand.

It would not be that difficult to hold auditions for the job. Offer a decent salary and hold auditions. The applicants should submit recordings of themselves doing broadcasts, and interviews, then the hiring committee could hold audtions for the top 25 or so applicants. You could even give them a test of knowledge on football and other sports topics at the interview.
I'm telling you, we all transitioned from Ferguson to Hawthorne without much touble, and we'll transition to the next guy when the time comes. I say the time is now.

Just chill out. What if we got stuck with Charles Hanagriff or Jordy Hultberg. I like Jim.

In all seriousness and all kidding aside...To this day, I still am wondering how he got Jack Hunt confused with Devery Henderson. HOW?!?! Could possibly have been the biggest call of his radio career, and he messed it up. People make mistakes, ok. Nobody is perfect. But again..."It was Jack Hunt". I mean, Jack was a safety! Why would he have been on the field? Uhh, Jim.
I had a very good friend who worked in the Athletic Dept. at the time, and I heard Jim went into a mild depression after that, and wouldn't leave his office. Very true story. For that, I feel bad.

You're not very interested in dissenting opinion, are you?
