Giving Austin Thomas the ability to recruit as a coach while letting Jenkins focus on actual coaching is pretty damn awesome.
it sure is. the crap we hear about it is just people buying in to the negative recruiting. there is no better DL coach than pete Jenkins.

Mathis may be lying about it (I don't believe that Jenkins NEVER spoke to him, for example), but it's been reported that Jenkins' age prevents him from hitting the recruiting trail in the way one would normally expect for a position coach. And as I stated before, IF that was the key reason we lost out on Wilson and Mathis, then it's a problem. I say keep Jenkins as some sort of analyst and hire a younger guy for the position who can also recruit. It's been reported that other schools' staffs have used Jenkins' age against him to recruits, saying stuff like, "He won't be there much longer, and you won't know who they bring in," etc. Surely Orgeron can find someone who fits the bill.

Agreed, but how many more years can he coach, five?

Only 6 of 9 coaches can recruit. So could someone please explain to me why they object to Jenkins being on the staff, when he is one of the most highly regarded defensive line coaches in the history of collegiate football? I don't get it, we had six coaches recruiting this season, which is all we can have according to the NCAA rules and regulations. If Jenkins went recruit, we would be in violation of NCAA rules and regulations, or we would have had to take someone off the list of recruiters.
I've also scene many people wanting to fire Ensminger too because he wasn't out recruiting also, when again only 6 of 9 coaches according to NCAA rules and regulations are able to recruit. What's the deal?

Wow just because he may only be able to coach another five years, which is longer than most people believe Canada and Aranda will be here, you want to fire him anyway and hire someone else younger who also can go out and recruit.

but one 18 YO uses him as an excuse to go to Bama,
The whole coaching staff immediately denied that Jenkins never spoke to him and called his attack on Jenkins as constituting spin.

Nobody "hates" coach Jenkins. But, if he can't recruit and that inability is truly what cost LSU commitments from Phidarian Mathis and Marvin Wilson, that state of affairs cannot continue much longer if we truly want to compete with the Alabama's of the world.
Wow, it's coach Jenkins' fault that we lost Mathis and Wilson. Damn...where does that stupidity come from? Indeed, that has to be one of the most dumb assertions I have ever heard made. I hate to burst your totally mentally deficient bubble dude, but only 6 of 9 coaches on the coaching staff are allowed to recruit according to NCAA rules and regulations. Not to mention, that Coach O is a very well known defensive line coach in his own right. Nonetheless, you want to lay the blame for those two ignoramuses going somewhere else on coach Jenkins, who is one of the most highly regarded defensive line coaches in the history of college football. That's uh, that's pretty damn sad.

Bama bought Mathis and it had nothing to do with Jenkins. Money has been exchanging hands in Monroe from Bama people for quite a few years now.

I was actually being sarcastic. No way does he coach another five years.
In spite of your outrage at anyone who deigns to mention it, his age is a drawback when it comes to the important task of recruiting. That's undeniable. And actually, if you'll go back and read my previous posts, I didn't say to "fire him." I said to keep him as an analyst (akin to what Bama does) and hire someone who can actually coach AND recruit for the position.

Hopefully, you will send your proof to the NCAA and SEC offices. I've been waiting for this shoe to drop for years.
