He needs to shut his stupid mouth and play. I get tired of guarantees from one of the worst QBs in LSU history.
not exactly how I would have put it, but realistically majority of LSU fans I know feel this way.

He doesn't have to prove shite to any of "us", but the coach. And apparently he did and thats why he's starting.

JJ had help screwing up.
I'm glad that he's speaking confidence. If he sounded timid or unsure of himself, people would be crucifying him for not having "moxie" or "guts" to welcome the challenge.
Too many rant posters letting their personal prejudices influence their positions.
If it were JLee saying the same thing, it would be described a little differently by some. If JLee could run, pass, etc. and Palmer, Manning, Mortensen, etc. made the same positive comments about a performance at the Manning camp, it would be well-received and not mocked.

Has anybody actually watched the interview? Not read the comments, but watched it and saw what he was asked and what tone he used to answer it. Just wondering...

JJ will have to prove it on the field rather then talk. I'm tired of promises. He is a way above average QB but he is no Cam Newton or even close to Matt Flynn for that matter.
All of this pre-season hype for LSU is just that. Hype. And for gawds sake beat Arkansas.

I don't think he will last a whole season if he performs like he did last year. I don't think he has proved anything to the coaching staff. They are just trying to build his confidence. What did he prove in the spring game to you?

Pretty much right on the mark. imo
It's amazing to me that "LSU fans" can get this pissy cause of positive remarks toward an LSU player coming from outside LSU and the state.

I am taking a wild guess but you have no clue what this thread is about do you?
Man we need to just let this. JJ needs to step his game up and we are going to support whatever 11 players are on the field wearing the P & G!
Please SEASON start soon.

I agree... only if the coaches think there is a better option behind him. I think LSU fans are pretty delusional if they think Mett is ready to just jump right in the second JJ screws up.

And as for spring game, nobody proved anything to me at any positions... it is only spring.

Agreed. JL has accomplished nothing more than JJ, yet if he was saying "I will be the starter..." the Rantards would be celebrating and creating statues in his honor.

Experts and former players are singing his praises of his improvements and all people want to do is laugh at them or dismiss them.
Those experts/former players get laughed at and dismissed because it's identical to what we all hear every spring from them. You can't blame people for being skeptical.

why are you such a bitch?
this isnt even about JLee... the lame attempts at building JJ up at Lee's expense is old and weak.
FWIW without jlee we lose to fla and tenn.
If JJ stays on the field and JLee sits on the bench we LOSE those two ballgames.
In my book Jlee has acted more like a team player and leader by keeping his mouth shut and doing what is asked of him when asked than JJ ever has... so yeah in many people's eyes he has accomplished more.

No shite dumbass. Reading comprehension much? I was making a comparison how things would be different if a different QB said what JJ said. Pay attention you dumb arse. This had nothing to do with building either QB up at any other QBs expense. It had to do with Rantards response to a QB's comment. Pay attention or stfu.

Without JJ, LSU likely loses way more than 2 games last year.

Lee is a backup QB. Who exactly wants to interview the back QB?

He needs to have an offense catered to his specific skill set and level, which is what I think has been done in the offseason most likely.
Like I said previously, hopefully SK has looked at some of the Auburn game film and will be installing a version of the Malzahn/Newton inspired "Simple things for simple Minds-Don't make your quarterback think too Much" offense.
Posted on 7/9/11 at 11:39 pm to I Speak As I Please
JJ is the starter not because he is a senior, if that was the case JLee would be starting. He is starting because he has 2 full seasons of starter experience in the SEC where the defenses are the biggest and fastest, while Mett has NO experience whatsoever in game experience in the SEC. It's that simple. JJ also is not terrible everyone on here knows that JJ has a ton of talent and potential, that there were times even last year that he has looked amazing. His problem is consistency. Now that we have a real QB coach with Krags, It's not unrealistic at all that JJ has improved dramatically.

Fine line between confident and cocky.. and sounds like he's trying too hard.
I really don't like that he said this.. would prefer he win the fans over with his play on the field first.

quote:Of course not. If he said that, they'd be bitching about how insecure he is and how he needs to show more confidence. If he said nothing, they'd be bitching about how he's afraid to talk to the media because everybody's talking shite about him and that proves he's a coward and a pussy. And if he stopped to fix and old lady's flat tire, rescued a dozen handicapped children from a burning hospital, balanced the budget, cured cancer, won the SuperBowl and stopped Lex Luther's dastardly plots, they'd be bitching about how he should have had a better spiral when he threw that nuclear missile into the sun.
Would you frickers rather him say, "I'm not sure if I'll be starter"?
They are angry, bitter, whining people. They are in a constant state of unhappiness and their unhealthy mental state misleads them into thinking that making other people as miserable as them is the only way to feel better. And they will continue this way until they get some help. So we should really just feel sad for them and wish them the best.
Good luck, guys. Hang in there, and someday you'll find the help you need!
