He feels like a different hitter this year and without knowing the numbers it feels like his K% is down drastically.

Way down.

He has 6 Ks in 65 plate appearances (9.2% K rate)

Last year he had 59 Ks in 295 plate appearances (20.0% K rate)

His freshman year he had 69 Ks in 202 plate appearances (34.2% K rate)

I love Cowan...great K/BB ratio. That is so important at the college level.

It appears to me at this point that the "piggy back" model is what will work best for LSU in SEC play. I don't see any of the starting pitchers (Anderson, Eyanson, Shores, Ware, or Schmidt) being guys that will be able to get through the lineup 3x consistently. All of these guys appear to be 4-5 inning guys as starters right now.

Will be interesting to see how Jay and Yeskie line them up for this. Could really use one more guy that could consistently piggy back a starter, which would leave Evans and hopefully Guidry to close them out with 1-2 inning saves. Was hoping that guy might be Rizy, but he's been a little shaky of late.
