I take it you're a pretty big fan of "playing not to lose" as well. That's what we did with Jeff in the Ark game. Because the coaches still don't trust him. With Lee the coaches played and called a game to win the game (at least for the first half of the year. After bama they went into a shell IMHO)
I think that says a lot.

SC was not the top d in the confrence and we only threw 24 passes the whole game and he threw a pick six! 16 of24 most quick outs because our coaches were afraid to let him throw the ball down feild!

The coaches and a vast majority of fans know that jj is better the stats I gave were acurate nobody wants this kid on the feild!
Miles has said JJ will start he is our Qb and will have a great game and put to rest doubters.
Playing not to lose thats what they did with lee game after game everyone holds their breath everytime he throws the ball.
He started the GA game with a pick six. I havn't found one fan that wants this kid on the feild neither do the coaches!
Who are you people?

lee is done as a tiger, might as well transfer because he will never see the field AGAIN

Lee did not throw a pick 6 against S. Carolina.
Florida played their starters for 58 minutes.
I am a fan who thinks Lee actually deserves a chance to improve. Show me a quarterback who makes large strides over the course of a season. Most corrections will be made in the offseason, when they don't have as much to worry about.
And even if Lee was a 53% passer because of the first 3 or 4 games, he somehow finished that way too. Which means he completed just as many passes at the end of the year as the beginning.
Or do people here not understand what percentages are?
Also, if the coaches didn't want him on the field, why the hell was he on the field? Clearly they didn't want Jefferson out their even more then.

I'm just floored by the ignorance on display in this thread
Idiocy #1) JL had great halves against Aub & Troy -- but JJ had a better 1st half against Ark, therefore he is better
Reply: I'd rather have a QB that plays his best in the 2nd half when the game is on the line
Idiocy #2) See above quote
Reply: You'd prefer to give up an extra 65 yds, plus the clock time that goes along with those 12% more completions, which puts are "D"on the field more often. That's what happened in the Arky game. We see how that worked out.
Idiocy #3) JLee should transfer
Reply: Are you freakin kidding? We have gone through 5 QBs in 2 years, and you want to get rid of one? Before any new ones have signed on the dotted line? WTF?
Idiocy #4) JJ has a better arm
Reply: Based on what? His better comp %. Nope. His QB rating is better. Try again. His yds/att is higher. No it isn't. His better W/L record. Uh, you have to win a game before you can have a better W/L %. His better TD/game avg. No, again. His better yds/game avg. Uh, not even close. Because my head is so far up my arse, I relly didn't see JJ actually throw the ball. BINGO, you got it.
Idiocy #5) JJ progressed, JLee didn't
Reply: You do understand progress means to get better? JJ led us to 30 pts in one half, but ZERO pts in the next half. Uh, that's 30 pts worse. You do realize thats not an improvement. The "D" figured him out, and shut him down. However, JLee led us to 30 pts, IN ONE QTR! The 4th qtr! Every coach in America would take the kid that can score 30 pts in the 4th qtr, as opposed to 30 in the 1st half. No questions asked.

b/c JLee gets in for garbage time?
No, because JJ completes 40% of his passes.

I am a fan who thinks that Lee was given a chance to improve this season as a RS FR and failed to do so.

"Definitely," he said, when asked if he saw LSU as his future. "That's why I came here. I didn't come here to transfer; I came here to be the starter. So that's what I'm going to do, try to get better every day and control the things I can control and listen to what the coaches have to say."
He will be a great 3rd string qb next year behind RS and JJ...

Okay, I sat in the stands and suffered through all of the bad moments with the QB play this year, too. What Ihope to see this year is an approach with Lee and JJ similar to the one from last year with Flynn and RP, but with the reps more evenly split. I am as excited about Shep as most of you are, but nothing would please me more than to see him get a RS and have some tim to adjust to the college game. If that happens, then it means that Lee and JJ did well. Yes, these kids were given playing time, but were they really put in a position to succeed?
This year's QB play was about 2 things: lack of experience and poor play by the defense. If LSU's D had been up to par, then the team wouldn't have been playing from behind and the QBs wouldn't have been forced to put the ball in the air as often as they did. A year of experience, a new DC and an overall team attitude adjustment, and these two QBs will be outstanding.

I'm sorry, I forgot this entire season where JLee singlehandedly won 7 games for LSU and never put his team in the hole.
When you say "we won despite JL" it shows a willingness to twist around anything to prove a point. JL had some struggles to be sure, be the kid threw for a bunch of yards. Let a ton of really good drives this year. Helped us score a bunch of points. And was the QB when we won most games. When a person is being objective, that person gives the QB the "win". We say Miles "won" a certain amount of games while at LSU...he is headcoach he gets the credit for the wins. We say Mauck, or Flynn won a certain amount of games at LSU (even though the D bailed both out at times) We say Rohan won a certain amount of games (even though Josh Reed bailed him out alot)....typically when you start (or come in play a major role in a game as QB, you get the "win". It's just common football terminology. But you won't give JL credit for the things he did succeed in. Saying we won "despite JL" shows a bias. The kids had issues, but you can't ignore his successes.

Good for Lee! Whatever else the kid has shown he's tough enough to handle the negative. I hope he is able to pull it together and improve.

As I read through all the negative and critical posts regarding JL, I'm reminded as an Old Fart of things I heard years ago as a youngster but never understood until much later in life:
"A little knowledge is a dangerous thing!"
"When I was fifteen, I thought my Old Man was so stupid he'd never learn anything. But when I got to be 35, I was surprised to see how much he'd learned!"
"Nothing is ever as good or as bad as it seems."
"Be careful what you wish for, you just may get it!"
"It ain't what you know that gets you into trouble, it's what you know that just ain't so!"
All of this would hold true as far as the coaching situation as well.
JL has the makings of a fine qb. Kudos to him for his resiliency, his attitude and his loyalty to LSU. We need more like him.
