One would assume anyone announcing now is not playing in the bowl game if you're announcing it already.

I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad assumption, but they did not specify they were skipping the bowl in their announcement like Jaray Jenkins did. It appears LSU is helping the players draft the announcements, so there’s some reason to hope that the omission indicates they don’t plan to skip the bowl. It’s probably wishful thinking, but it is odd they didn’t spell it out if they are planning to opt out.

I don't blame anyone for avoiding the game tbh but at this rate Purdue going to stomp LSU with all the opt outs. Not going to be able to field a secondary.

Purdue's HC coach has already left, and Ward has already said he's playing in the bowl game. Garner hasn't said he wont be. We don't have any other DBs in the portal/draft who actually played much this year. R Jones played against Ole Miss and Arkansas and only STs in other games. McGhee saw snaps in one game all season, Auburn on STs.

I know you probably have PTSD from last year, but we aren't starting a team full of walk-ons and a WR at QB like we did last year.

Purdue has a bad pass defense and just an ok rush defense. And they only averaged 28 ppg on offense while allowing just under 25 ppg on defense. Against Big 10 teams only, those numbers were 25 and 26 respectively.

The ranked teams on their schedule were:
#2 Michigan - lost 43-22 at home
#11 Penn St - lost 35-31 at home

That's it. They also lost 21-3 at home to 7-5 Iowa, 35-24 @ 6-6 Wisconsin, 31-29 @ 7-5 Syracuse. Their best wins were against Minnesota and Illinois. Comparing resumes, we should win the game. Nothing shows we should be worried about them "stomping" us.

What has killed us recently is our defense being worn out and teams running all over us. Our defense will have a month to rest and Purdue had one of the worst rushing offenses in the Big 10, only averaging 123 ypg.
