If you could assume the role of either Jamarcus Russell or Matt Flynn, which would you pick.

If you are Russell, you are viewed as a monumental bust, you are out of the league but you do still have a shitload of money from your initial contract (61 million dollars with 32 million guaranteed). You have the stigma of being a spoiled lazy athlete that abuses drugs but you could also never have to work again if you made any smart investments. There is no upside other than you are sitting on a boatload of money.

If you are Flynn, you are viewed as a backup with a lot of upside. You started out as the number 3 QB but beat out the number 2 QB. You are probably going to get your first start with Aaron Rodgers going out with an injury. Sure you don't have the huge initial contract but if you play well in place of an injured QB, you could potentially parlay that into a huge contract a la Matt Cassell.

I gotta go with Matt Flynn. He has way more potential to do great things. He may never get the huge contract Jamarcus got but he will probably do very well over the long run and have the respect of his peers.

Your thoughts?

Do I get Russell's athleticism and skill set?

Because, if so, it's a no brainer. Russell by a mile.

Is that another way of asking "whom would you rather be"?

100% chance that Flynn has more money in his bank account 10 years from this day

But you also get his decision making ability on and off the field or lack thereof.

Well, then know.

If I get my work ethic and life decision making skills, then I take Russell.

Really. Everything the Packers have said is that they are really high on Flynn. He beat out Brohm or whatever in the hell his name is that went to Louisville.

Roders practiced today, Flynn won't even start. Cassell also got that money cuz for 15 games he balled, not just one week. Flynn will be just like a million other backup QB's who played for several years in the league and made nice money but never did anything special. Chase Daniel is the Saints backup QB and we didn't go out and get anybody so I guess he has great potential, too.

Clearly if I'd rather be Jamarcus who is out of the league and hated by nearly everyone (LSU and NFL fans) that he impacted, I would go Flynn. But Jamarcus is still one of my favorite athletes of all-time and took to much shite while he was here at LSU.

ETA: Just because I love Jamarcus doesn't mean I don't think he's lazy and completely wasted one of the purest arms this world as ever seen.

are we saying put my good sense in Jamarcus's body? cause if so, that's the route I'm taking.

Flynn is in a great spot, and he'll get his chance to start. If not this week, this season sometime. He'll no doubt do a great job as well. He's already gotten more press this week than he has in his entire 3 year career. With a good young QB like Rodgers, Flynn could be carrying a clipboard and playing golf for several more years.

I'd say Flynn has it much better.

JR made 39mil for 3yrs. 10yrs in the league and Flynn wouldnt make 10. he probably got near a league minimum for getting drafted in the 7th round.

How long do we have to keep waiting for Flynn to "get his chance"? We heard that the first 4 years he was at LSU, and not we get to debate it again.

Hell I'd bet you a beer Flynn has more money in the back right now. JM has done such a remarkable job trashing his athletic career why would his finances be any different?
