Of course

I would tend to believe however the more educated and sensible someone is, the less they let trivial things like that decide anything

80 yards is definitely a talent as related to being a quarterback in the NFL

Yes, this is really important. At least seven or eight times a game, NFL quarterbacks have to throw the ball 80 yds down field. This is one of the biggest reasons why Drew Brees has yet to succeed in the NFL.

You're telling me you've never lost respect for someone dressing trashy?

Can you back that up? I haven't heard anything like that before, I'd be interested in reading that

I just wrote it, you just read it...it is my opinion that wearing a medallion with Bama Boy and an Elephant on it to your former teammates national championship game is disrespectful. It's about like your best man showing up at your wedding with your old girlfriend as his date.

I love the morals people profess to have on the internet. Like they dont judge people on appearances.

Let me rephrase, you've never thought a certain way about someone who dressed trashy on first impression?

Given his recent judgement and decisions, I am not sure he has.

Psh... his family alone is sucking him dry financially, I guarantee you that. The combo of that and his spending will have him ruined.

So if you saw some dude you work with wearing a NAZI uniform on the weekend, you wouldnt lose respect for him? Not comparing what jamarcus did to something that extreme, but its in the eye of the beholder.

His attire that night was indicative of where his head was at. JR was more concerned about his image and stylin', as opposed to supporting his former team. Dude's a knucklehead.

I'm sure i have...but I wouldn't let an initial impression or thought dictate how I viewed that person forever

I wouldn't be surprised to hear about him filing for bankruptcy within the next 15 years, especially depending on what his deals include financially within the next couple of years

That's if you know them..

But when your are on National TV/...You have to manage what people think of you...that have never met you... You are one of 32 QB's in the NFL...the largest sports business there is on the planet

That's why you have a good agent, and someone to help you build a good public image... That shows you respect yourself, your fans, and a conscious awareness of what people might think.."if I do this or say that"

As much as Ive bashed Russell over the years, this really depresses me. I truly hope he's smart with the money he has left.

But are these people the Starting QB of an NFL franchise?

Are they on ESPN? Fox? CBS?

I am sure JR is a "good person" that is not the issue in question...

Is about using good judgment/wisdom...with the riches he has been blessed with...

i absolutely agree with this.

i just don't get how people were so outraged by his wardrobe and suddenly saw him as this different guy. the money didn't change him. he just bought more flashy clothes because he could afford them. people began forming negative opinions on him after they saw him on the sideline that night, why didn't they say that shite about him while he was at LSU? he was the same guy, he just had a dumb arse chain with a bama logo for his friend's rap label and people freaked out.

to the original paste, it was somewhat predictable that he would flame out in oakland, because he was lazy, not because he was caught up in the bling.again, he was no different in this way than when he was in college. he was lazy at LSU. jimbo was literally up his arse 24/7 when he was in college. had he not had this, he would have never been the player you saw in 06'. once he was in a self motivated environment, it was just a matter of time.

Lots of athletes go bankrupt, and I'd imagine a good portion come from low-income backgrounds where they live beyond their means once they get some money.

DBG...Have I once during this entire thread resort to calling you frickin' names? I have an opinion and you don't agree with it. It doesn't make me moronic. I have a strong feeling about something that someone did that I feel showed a disrespect to the University. Judging from other comments there are some other posters who agree with this assessment. It doesn't make them moronic.

Fact:

Jamarcus Russell decided to wear an Alabama Crimson Tide Logo pendant on the night his former team was playing in a National Championship on an interview where he was supposedly representing LSU.

Fact: I'm an LSU fan who has the opinion that this was a disrespectful act.

If that makes me moronic, than...
