Watched some you tube clips, he plays like a Tebow type, not an elusive burner like a Vince Young but a scrappy player that makes things happen with his feet. I see he was listed as running a 4.65 coming out of HS, he looks a lot faster than that on the field.

the won the MAC and went undefeated in conference and ended AP #10. he looked great on a decent team.

I'm comparing MAC competition to BCS competition. Besides, that was his Jr. year and I was talking about '02 when the redhawks came to LSU and we beat them 33-7 and their running back only had 20 or so yards rushing. The whole team was Roethlisberger.

Locker is a good talent on a bad team, and I guess 2007 was a down year for freshmen in the Pac10. But lets be honest, the QB play in the SEC has not been lights lately.

Locker is vastly overrated. Accuracy is crap. Misses wide open recievers consistently.

Must've watched the same clip I watched. You can see where a guy like that can cause problems. I just figure he doesn't have the supporting cast to beat us.

He was electronically timed in the 40 twice this spring and ran a 4.39 and a 4.40 at 223 lbs. He is also listed as the top Junior QB in the country by Scouts Inc. Article

Top Eligible Underclassmen QBs
Name School Height Weight
1. Jake Locker Washington 6-2¼ 222
2. Jimmy Clausen Notre Dame 6-2¾ 217
3. Colin Kaepernick Nevada 6-5½ 213
4. Richard Stanzi Iowa 6-3⅝ 219
5. Pat Devlin Delaware 6-3½ 220
6. Case Keenum Houston 6-1 210
7. Adam Weber Minnesota 6-3 218
8. Jerrod Johnson Texas A&M 6-4½ 228

Too bad he's the only proven offensive threat we have.

Here's the clip you guys are probably talking about, it's from his freshman year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMfiq9CXss8

He is one of the reasons why I don't see this game as a blowout as the tards on here think.

"Blowout" being a subjective term of course. But the 40 or 50(LSU) to single digit(UW) predictions are unrealistic. Especially if the weather is bad.

also, keep in mind that those highlights from his freshman of the year include games against Ohio State (with laurinaitus) when they were highly ranked, USC when they were highly ranked, Boise State when they were highly ranked, and Oregon, so it wasn't like jake was running around against scrubs. he was playing against top teams.

the highlights do not show that our o-line was (and still is) heinous, so he was constantly running for his life and never had enough time to get set in the pocket. our receivers drop 50% of the passes that hit them in the mitts, so to focus on the overthrows he makes is a little bit unfair unless you also include easy drops.

if he was playing for florida, there would have been no change.
You're right. Tebow & Co. would have won the National Championship just the same. Locker on the sidelines would not have changed that a bit.

He's the real deal when compared to Tim Tebow, but faster. Sure his accuracy sucks but he has no receivers or linemen to help him out. He does truck some people though. He is really exciting to watch.

I guess he won the award because how much of a threat he was to all the teams he played his freshman year.. He did take it to ranked Boise State (Won) and USC (lost 27-24).

Two of the last three number one draft picks have been SEC QB's. Are you on crack?

Not to take anything away from Locker, he's obviously a talented athlete, but I don't think the highlights from his freshman season are indicative of what he will do against LSU. First of all, a lot of the highlights are of him running against weak teams. But more than that, once good defenses see a players strengths and tendencies, the honeymoon is over. If you look at Tebow's rushing yds per carry, they have steadily declined each year. Partly because Meyer is limiting his carries to keep him from getting banged up, which should also be the case with Locker if they want to avoid a repeat of last season. But more than that, defenses know he's coming and practice for him. I know he only played in four games last year, but if the stats I saw were accurate, you could already see his avg. dropping. I know our defense wasn't stellar last season, but I believe this years D under Chavis will impress. Speed on defense will stop Locker.
