Someone explain to me how Locker won 2007 Pac-10 FOY by completing 47% of his passes with a TD-INT ration of 14-15?? I am assuming the Pac-10 was extremely thin on talented true Freshman in 07 or something. Those numbers are pretty unimpressive.

In the four games he started last year he completed 54% of his passes and threw 1TD and 0Int's.

Aside from the fact that he has the tools to be a potentially good NFL prospect, whats all the hype about? Am I missing something here? I have barely seen the kid play and I realize he's been on a very bad team...but still, those numbers are pretty weak.

The Pac 10 has the toughest competition and the best defenses in the country. So it is pretty impressive.

There's a youtube video or two out there you might want to check out. After watching one of them, I can see why people make the Tebow comparisons. Not to say he's Tebow-2, but he's big, he runs, he scrambles, he moves the ball. I wonder too if his low pass completion rate doesn't have something to do with having inferior receivers. Anyway, I'd expect him to provide most of whatever offensive spark the Huskies bring to the game.

he was exciting to watch and ran for close to 1000 yards with an average at best offensive line.

if he was playing for florida, there would have been no change. he is a gifted athlete on a poor team.

Except for the no playing time aspect.

Makes a little more since now. I didn't see the 900+ rush yards and 13 rush TD's. Shows how much I watch UW games. I figured he was a good young player just doing what he could do with a below average team.

He makes things happen, they had USC down for a bit that year and had Hawaii beat too but NO D.

TD to INT sucks but he ran alot.

I watched Locker play a few times and have been very impressed. It reminds me of when Ben Rothlessberger (sp?) came in with Miami-Ohio and you could tell he was a really good player on a really crappy team.

To be fair, Vince Young had a pretty terrible completion percentage and a bad TD/INT ratio until late in his career. not that Locker is VY, but I think its a perfectly justifiable FOY award. You can see the promise there.

Ben couldn't run out of sight in a week. Ben had a much better arm. Where do some of you come up w/ this stuff. Aside from them both being white, there are no similarities.

I think all he meant was Ben was on a bad team but you could tell he had talent for the next level. Maybe the same will be said for this kid in a couple years. Nothing at all to do with comparing the two players

Did I compare their arm strenght or running ability? No. Besides being big, they are diffrent types of QB's. I only said that both were good college QB's on crappy teams. That was my comparison and it's a fair one.
