He wasn't AA but he did what the hell was asked of him. He actually had a damn strong senior season
the same can be said for Danny McCray.
His situation at LSU was different because he was playing behind some real good safteys:

McCray admitted he did not have a great career at LSU, where he rotated among free safety, strong safety and nickel back. For starters, the deck was stacked against him in terms of personnel.
In the last three years, three LSU safeties have been selected in the NFL draft. They are: Chad Jones, to the New York Giants in the third round of this year's draft; Curtis Taylor to Washington in the seventh round of the 2009 draft and Craig Steltz to the Chicago Bears in the fourth round of the 2008 draft.
McCray is really close to making the Cowboys opening day roster. He will be a special teams star. The Cowboys specail teams coach, Joe DeCamillis, has been pushing Wade Phillips to keep Danny for his special teams play:
quote:
Dallas Cowboys special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis has been impressed with his play on Special Teams and it now appears he may have secured himself a spot on the roster.
“We were looking at him because he was in the mix of possible draft choices, and this other guy, No. 44, kept showing up, making a lot of plays on special teams,” DeCamillis said. “He was in on a lot of tackles. He was a good blocker.”
The Cowboys signed the Spring Westfield graduate as an undrafted free agent, thinking he could be a special teams ace. Now wearing No. 40, McCray leads the team in preseason special team tackles with five, including an eye-opening three in last week’s 16-14 win over San Diego.

Wade likes him too:
quote:
“McCray played outstanding,” Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips said. “They couldn’t block him. He was making plays on all of their guys.”
McCray is partially responsibile for the Cowboys cutting Pat Wadkins:

Aug 30, 2010 - Tim McMahon reports today that the Dallas Cowboys informed safety Patrick Watkins that he will be released tomorrow when the team must cut to 75 players. A four year veteran, Watkins has maintained a spot on the roster through strong special teams play. After the Cowboys drafted Akwasi Owusu-Ansah in the fourth round, they signed undrafted rookies Barry Church and Danny McCray. The trio has impressed coaches both on special teams - where Owusu-Ansah has shown some ability on returns and McCray has been impressive in coverage - and on the defensive unit.
Danny learned how to play special teams and tackle at LSU.
I am proud of him.
