I live in Jackson (Fondren) and work downtown. Crime is not bad as you let on.

I agree Fondren is a cool little area but I actually have a college buddy that lives there that had his car stolen about a month back. Agree S-Port may be worse but downtown BR is MUCH cleaner than Jackson. However if JXN takes the same steps BR has it has all the potential to come back as well. However look at HINDS county leadership vs East Baton Rouge Parish. At least EBR had a chance at getting something done. Jackson is toast in that regard as most people who could change it gave up and headed north to Mad/Ridgeland.

my MIL owns a store in Fondren. Cute area.

and to everyone trying to stay in Jackson or Memphis...why do that? All you gotta do is rent a condo or house in Oxford for the weekend.

If you are going as far north as Memphis you might try to take the Poplar exit to the right and then turn left on Germantown road and go till you get to Wolf River and turn right and about 100ft is a Homewood suites and there is a nice family resturant and a bakery

The Best Western in Clinton, MS (right outside of Jackson) is very good. Stayed there plenty of times, and I think it's like 69.99

We are leaving on Friday staying in Grenada. I would stay in Memphis, it is only an hour away from Oxford. Plenty to do in Memphis plus Memphis has quality hotels.
