It's not all about the defense coordinators. Some of you guys astound me with your extensive football knowledge. Yes, our defense has issues, but who didn't know that would be the case before the year started? Our secondary is young and quite frenquently out of position. And when they are in position, they miss the tackles. But there is a host of other issues, IMO related to inexperience and age. This is not to let the Co-DC's of the hook, but none of you have any idea what was called defensively...maybe an audible was called on the field. There are so many variables.

FYI:
When you run a blitz when a running play has been called, if the runner gets through the defensive line, the safety has to make the tackle, he is the last line of defense(hence the name safety). That's why Moreno scored on the long run, and why he had the other long run. The same thing happened in the 2003 when Justin Vincent broke through the line on the first play from scrimmage against OK.

When we gave up the long passing TD, the safety was way out of position, and let the receiver get behind him. We were blitzing on that play, and when you blitz it is absolutely crucial that the safety keep the play in front of him. If the WR gets beyond the safety, it's a TD.

Also, it looks to me like, when we are blitzing, the blitzers are trying to go around the offensive line, and make the play, instead of occupying blocks to allow others to make the play.

Does anybody take into consideration the amount of additional time the defense is on the field because of turnovers and offensive inefficiency. What about the position a turnover puts the defense in? How about how much your defensive strategy has to change because the score gets out of hand. What about the long punt returns UF had against us.

It's easy to sit at home with your Tevo, and hit rewind during commercials to see what went wrong, but the players and coaches don't have that. The coaches have 40 seconds to make a call based on down and distance, and teams tendencies. The players have seconds, and sometimes less, to make a decision. The coaches can make the play calls, but they can't execute them.

Last year many of the things that could have went wrong didn't, and went in LSU's favor, this year they aren't. It's the law of averages.

This is still my football team, and I get as frustrated as anyone about inconsistancy and mistakes, but all of this player and coach bashing isn't helping a damn thing. If ya'll think the players don't read this stuff, your wrong.

Take a step back, and let the coaches and players do their jobs.

We, as fans, reserve the right to be critical when 103 points have been hung on a defense in 2 GAMES. Saban's been doing pretty well with his inexperienced peeps.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck.............

Are you getting paid to watch the game? to cheer for the tiger? i didn't think so...so if you don't like what you're seeing...don't watch...better yet...if you like what Saban is doing so much...go cheer for the gumps...LSU is better off without you...

if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck then we at least have to entertain the fact that it might be a member of the anas platyrhynchos family. j/j. i feel that the inexperience of the secondary is being amplified by the scheming of the co dc's. its similar with the saints. the talent is there, but the players are continually out of position (sometimes being their own fault). however, i also think the whole team needs to go back to the basics: blocking, tackling, passing, etc. Too many players had chances to tackle Moreno in the backfield but simply fell off due to improper technique. Get back to basics, simplify things if you need to and try different people in different positions if you have to in order to find the spark that this team desperately needs.

The biggest difference I can see this year is that the D doesn't seem to swarm to the ball like the past few years, missing tackles and not forcing any turnovers. These are issues that need to be addressed by the coaching staff. IMHO.

It may be surprising to some.....but a lot of fans actually know the game pretty damn well. In college ball, it always comes down to coaching. Period.

Not a football expert but I do know this about our Tigers. We have the most experienced offensive line in the SEC. Why are we not running the ball instead of putting Lee in a position that he is not capable of handling at this time. Not saying he won't in the future but we are asking a freshman with only three years of football under his belt (he didn't start playing until his junior year of high school) to go against some of the best college football players in the nation. Don't give me the crap about we fell behind so we had to play catch-up, we were running anywhere form 6 to 20 yard carries with our backs. And remember the clock stops in college with every first down. There has been only one game where we could not run the ball and that was against Florida. We all know with as many backs as we have we should be wearing out the other teams defense with our running game. I don't understand. We can all say it would be different if we had Perilloux, but Coach miles had to do what he had to do, so we play within our game and do what we have to do.

seriously? tell ya' what, lemming, not watching objectively may do it for you, but not for me. Besides, I never said I LIKED what he was doing, just that he is doing it well. Please STFU.
