Collegiate athletics shouldn't just be about winning. Sure I agree Les has much more at stake financially than any fan, but these athletes are roll models for our kids, the head coach is a roll model for our kids and all of the fans. I guess winning is more important than integrity, honor and class. I want LSU to beat the pants off every team we play, but I don't want to see a kid who has done nothing but play his heart out, win 8 games and then be treated like Miles has treated him. I don't care if he gets 1 snap a game so long as its relevant. Anything less is a slap in the face.

Yes, God, please make all the fans on this board be able to recognize injustice when they see it. Oh, and if you could throw in a BCS Title while you are at no matter who plays quarterback, that would be sweet.

Why do "fans" care so much about "who" is playing QB? No one is pouting or complaining when Hilliard comes in and gets more carries than Ware; or when Ford gets more carries than Blue. I mean is it really fair that one running back gets us to the goal line, only to be replaced by another who scores? What about that first running back's feelings and mental state? blah! blah! blah!

Enough already! We are playing for the national championship! I am an LSU Tiger fan above all else. I root for the purple and gold regardless of the name on the back of the jersey. Do I fully understand the personnel decisions? No. Am I really that vested in one player? Hell no!

How many times and different ways can we beat this dead horse? :beatdeadhorse:

Yeah.

Particularly when we were 8-0 and he was one of the highest rated QB's in the country.

What were the coaches thinking.

People aren't upset about who starts or how much time one QB gets over another, they are upset because Miles sends in JL to kneel down when the games were clearly in hand. If you are going to play JL at least make the 1 snap he gets relevant. He deserves at least that. Yes above all we are LSU fans, if we didn't love our Tigers we wouldn't be so passionate about it...it's because we care that people want the right thing done.

Paul Dietzel is probably the best example of an honorable man and coach. Of course, the first thing he said to a Freshman team (back then Freshman couldn't play varsity, but there were some Freshman only games)-- Dietzel told them, "In high school, you have heard that it is not all about winning, don't believe that. Go out and win!"

Not sure you speak for us all. B/C if these athletes are role models and it is not about winning-- every player with any transgression should not be starting or playing (according that rationale)-- this would include the Honey Badger, the punter, the starting running back, the 3rd string QB and yes, the 2nd string QB as well as the 1st QB and who knows how many other players.

Just b/c you do not understand what Miles is doing, doesn't make his decision wrong. And conversely, understanding it, does not make it right.

If you believe this, you haven't read the threads on this subject.

I understand what you are saying-- Since JL stayed with the program after his Frosh year and last year, and since he started and helped win the first 8 games, he deserves meaningful downs-- right? Is that regardless of the circumstances surrounding his own conduct?

Not sure "we" all agree on the "right" thing.

So, Mett should be 1st off the bench?

I'm sure that would be well received by the "upset" gang.

It's what backup QBs do. If he had sent Mett out there instead, this place would've exploded.

Interstingly, I don't see many threads about how Miles is showing no class and disrespecting Greg Shaw by not putting him in until victory time despite the fact that Shaw did a pretty solid job filling in at a couple of Oline spots during the middle of the season when people were injured.

J is going to be the starter then you have to let him settle. Thats been the diff this year. when jj was back, but didnt start, he rarely threw the ball. The qb has to find his rythm.

we saw how well that worked against Georgia in the first half....

hell his throws in the second half werent that good.

but yeah...rhythm

Lee wasn't as bad in that game as people make him out to be, and Les gave him no opportunity to shake it off.

He got a chance to shake off the first unbelievably horrible throw that led to an interception.

What did Lee do?

He threw a second unbelievably horrible throw that led to an interception on the next throw.

Lee's playing time is a stupid topic. it just makes y'all sound like pee wee football parents.

That game was entirely too fast for JL. Not a knock on the kid, just a fact. His throwing off the back foot didn't fly in that game.

JJ threw two in a row vs UGA and there was no hook, which is why people are a bit confused about the "leash." In fact, I think JJ threw three that should have been picked. If you are going to judge the Lee game, look at the JJ game vs UGA as well.

I don't think it's unfair to say there is a different standard for the two. If you wonder why people ask questions, this is the reason.

Your description understates how bad that throw was.

Lee's second half pick against Alabama was the worst mistake anyone has made this year, and there's not even a close second. And I say this about a team that has had multiple starters suspended for doing stupid things.

In the second half of games we pound the other teams into submission, have 4-minute 21-point bursts like it's nothing, force teams to get nervous and make mistakes and then make them pay for those mistakes with ruthless efficiency.

If I had to come up with a way to neutralize LSU's strengths, it would be to turn the ball over on the first play of a second half drive and set the other team up in field goal range.

It takes away a chance for our offense to pound the ball...and it allows the opposing team to get points without having to deal with facing our defense and risking a turnover...

Most LSU fans think by the middle of the fourth quarter LSU was beginning to dominate Alabama, and that continued into overtime.

It could've happened earlier if we hadn't just decided to sit out a drive and hand them 3 points....
