Some great comments, joey etc, I do want to state that I do appreciate all our fans and do not believe that rich/poor makes any difference with how good a fan is, its about passion and support, for some that is $10k per year and for some its $360 per year, I do not DEMAND the team wins, but admit if we had say 2-3 losing years in a row, I would not be happy, but it would take a lot for me to stop giving, i was there 89-94 and it was pretty bad, but it makes the 00-2011 even sweeter...I hope no true fans ever cannot afford to go to games, but I dont think we are there now, imo and it we are not out of line with other programs in $$$ costs...

As I have stated at other times on this board, when a program caters to the wealthy set it hurts overall enthusiasm and energy levels in the stadium.

This is where you lost me. You can't compete without money. I don't care who you are. If you don't have the resources, you won't win on the field with subpar players because you can't recruit. Miami is the exception to this rule because they have the natural benefit of being in Miami so they can have shite facilities and following.

This is the world we live in. Fans are alienated, period. This is true in every major sport in every major conference in every major league.

You think it's a coincidence that the largest athletic department budgets reside in the SEC because they let Joe Schmoe that is a derelict into the stadium because he is a big fan? Get realistic.

People on this board bitch every day about certain upgrades and compare us to other schools, and then they turn around and bitch about increased prices. They're part and parcel. Get a clue.

The changes in demographics may change in the stadium, but LSU isn't alone so stop acting as if we're the only ones it happens to.

You think Saints games aren't more restrictive now than they were pre-Superbowl?

I've heard this Proletarian "bruh, dey pricin da real fans out da stadium, yeah," nonsense for a while now.

So the people who can not afford it are ignorant and can't speak now? Wonder what world you live in....

can tell you this "pricing out" crap and watering down the atmosphere stuff is pure garbage. Just poor bitching. Every game is on TV now, go tailgate, watch the game on TV under a tent and get wasted.

This makes no sense. You say pricing out is not true, but then tell them watch under a tent instead of inside of the stadium that the previously could afford.....

Please post less...

Read the other posts on page three of this thread. I didn't contradict anything. I live in reality where money and resources determine success. You don't pay coaches with peanuts and derelict fans that can't pay money to enter the stadium because we want a "rabid" environment.

You told some dude to post less and you did absolutely nothing to explain why. That's a fail. You didn't go to LSU did you?

I replied to smarty, saw you pop up with T and thought it was the same person. My bad.

My comments to him were that his statements made absolutely no sense. Not sure why you got involved in that....

You obviously did not read my original post either... I don't have the answer, but it is a fact that the stadium is not nearly as rukus as it used to be which is disapointing. MANY folks have been priced out, which is also disapointing.

As I stated earlier, I don't have the answers, but I do have my season tickets. I like to win, and I like top notch facilities, but you have to agree that there are some downsides to loosing life long season ticket holders over price.

Fair enough. I sometimes wonder if nostalgia makes me believe that as well. I don't know if it's changed much, or if it really just depends on the magnitude of the game and the opponent, weather, day games, etc.

It certainly changes the people in the stadium and I get told to sit down a fair amount and it at times involves some verbal displays on my part with those persons. But at the end of the day I realize that you pay for what you get, largely regarding coaching and facilities and if we can't at least compete on that front, we are in far more trouble than if our stadium is a little more subdued than it was ten years ago.

I just get irritated as hell with the folks that are solely there as a social event. I guess I was raised (literally was at games pre-birth) that I have a duty to yell my arse off and cheer as hard as possible for the Tigers. It was a responsibility that came with the privelege of being there.

South East endzone is for sure not nearly what it used to be and the sidelines seem to never make a sound these days unless the game is on the line.

And I do agree. But then you have a 2007 UF game and stuff like that and you know the stadium still has the ability to be as badass as it ever was.

IMO, people are always going to complain about prices, but that is one of the sacrifices you will have to make to support such a successful athletic school. I would much rather spend money to support a school like LSU, than not support my team and watch them suffer.
