before the season began, all I heard was, "LSU doesn't rebuild, it reloads." Now with the way things have gone, we are suddenly rebuilding.

I'm not sure.
No, but that was the excuse because we were using unproven QBs. We supposedly had an OL and a stable of RBs that could compete in the NFL. All that, in itself had nothing to do with the collapse of LSU's defense. Anybody who thinks it's anything but the coaching, that didn't teach and allowed bad attitudes to exist on the defensive side, is fooling themselves.

in a way you could call this a rebuilding year. qb being the obvious position and we had a kot of first year starters as well at DB and LB(but they've been here long enough to be able to step right in).
LSU's problems are far greater than Florida's from 07. Florida was playing true freshmen and redshirt freshmen all over the field. That's not the case at LSU. The Tigers are playing seniors and juniors everywhere. LSU has some serious problems and it starts with the personnel not the coaches.

Tee Mike fixed it, and I agree: it is the personnel AND the coaches. I do not think it starts with the personnel, except to say the coaches recruited them, and I think this is a batch of attitudes that have gotten out of hand, which again the coaches did not put a stop to immediately. Look how long RP's saga went on before Coach Miles finally said, "Enough!" How many receivers (who don't consistently receive) have been having attitude problems in practice where nobody sees? How many DBs and others have shown attitudes on field and in practice, and have played anyway? And how about a sacrificial lamb QB named Lee, who was forced into a bad situation way before he might have been ready because of the procrastination in enforcing team discipline. This falls on coaching and lax standards in my book. I look at a coach with a different temperment (the one who must not be named) and don't think a lot of what Coach Miles has tolerated, both in certain players and in sloppy coaching, would have lasted this long.

The season is shot, and all we should hope for is to not be embarrassed or disappointed any further.

Exactly.

Florida wasn't blown out by 51 and 52 points on D

We can all say dirty things about Urban Meyer, but he would never let that happen.

And whatever happened to the fans that declared Urban's offense would never work in the SEC?

That aside, Urban Meyer is an a-hole, just like Nick Saban ... and they are the two best coaches in the conference.

IMHO, we've got the Mack Brown of the SEC.

This was a NC year in March. As soon as RP was dismissed the logical fans expected 3 losses minimum this year.

No chance you would have won the NC with this team, even if RP stayed. It's obvious now.

This is true, but related. I think the defensive coaches do a poor job of getting the best players on the field. They insist on constantly rotating D lineman into the game that are not playing well. Nevis,Francois,Alem,Johnson,Jackson should play until they can't go any more. Levingston should be the next one off the bench. Our line play has been our biggest problem throughout the year on defense, and it comes down to poor personnel decisions.

Our D shutdown Bama. There is only so much they can take. Also, it's either for other teams to scheme against this defense when they are on the field all the time providing lots of game film.

Really.

07 Florida -- Experience Sophomore QB, and good one, too.

08 LSU -- 3rd and 4th string Freshman at QB

If anyone is feeling the freshman problems more, it's LSU.

With RP it was not a rebuilding year. Without a QB it has been a disaster and qualifies as a rebuilding year. How would Bama be playing with our QB's?

Huh? Our entire RB core starting playing as freshman.

Chad Jones, Patrick Peterson, etc. all played as freshman.

If JL and JPW swapped teams, we win by 35. Otherwise, the game goes to overtime.

Bama Doug:

QB gets the ball at least 1/2 the snaps of the game, meaning 1/2 of the game funnels through him. That is huge.

Secondary this year is all new.

Let's hope Miles doesn't keep making the same excuses as the fans.
This team is talented. But, they play DUMB which is on the coaches.
They tackle poorly and seem to be lost out there. That's coaching.
You expect the O to struggle with a young QB. But, this D has been mediocre or worst all year long. And it starts up front.
If Miles keeps this same scheme next year, we're in for alot more misery unless Crowton can dial up 28+ pts a game.

I have to agree!! Our Offense has struggled a lot this year but you should not have to score 30 points a game to win. We only lost 4 players on defense last year. My blame is on the coaching plain and simple. The pass defense should have gotten much better this late in the season and not too mention...where has the D-Line been all year?? We should not have seen that much of a drop off from last years defense at least this late in the season. Here's hoping to a lights out Defense next season!!
