Is Miles a good recruiter, or does LSU recruit itself?

In the post Saban era in which Les Miles found himself, does Miles really get the credit for being such a great recruiter, or is it just the fact that LSU had been established as a power under Saban and pretty much recruits itself? To me, Miles gets too much credit for being a great recruiter. I think he is a good recruiter in a GREAT situation. Louisiana is a talent rich state and LSU is the flagship university and the only major player in Div I football in the state.

The only schools I would say recruit themselves is USC and Miami and even they have had struggles in the past. The weather in Louisiana is terrible and last I checked there were no beaches nearby.

We can criticize him on many things, but recruiting isn't one of them. He's been a great recruiter everywhere he's been.

Have you ever lived in the north? Huge majority of people (and recruits) would prefer 90 and humid in the summer as "bad weather" than 20 and snowy in the winter up north.

lsu wasn't nationally recognized as an elite football program durring the curley era neither.... Not taking away from miles recruiting abilities. just saying even after mile is gone, lsu will still Louisiana and southeast Texas on lock...
Miles does recruit well wherever he goes fwiw

to me nick saban gets too much credit for being a great recruiter while at LSU.. note i said while at LSU.. i recognize saban as the best recruiter now.. but a lot of saban's players at lsu were louisianan home grown.. and were coming to LSU regardless.. the amount of talent of high school athletes in the late 90s to early 00s in louisiana was exceptional.. and LSU doesn't exactly have any competition in state..
to me Miles doesn't get enough credit for recruiting.. especially what he has down outside the state..

lsu recruits itself.easy for a top 20 class.but i remember a time when it wasnt cool to be here.getting a kid out of new orleans wasnt going to happen.les is a great recruiter.les is almost on par with saban.he can out do him but he still has to do it.kinda like a train almost up the hill.i think i can,i think i can.i think this year he gets over the top.

football is usually over before '20 and snowy'. the falls are gorgeous in the north and east. I played the game in the south and the northeast and, IMHO, football was more comfortable in cool weather than hot/humid. it was baseball that sucked in the northeast. pre-season workouts on plowed parking lots and cold, wet conditions for the first half of the season. the vast majority of good recruits stay and play for the teams they grew up with.

does this question even need to be asked? the same could be said about Saban...both men recruited well and posted some serious numbers.

Last I checked USC and Miami were not up north.

You think Hill, Spears, and Clayton were always coming to LSU regardless?
