Anyway I like the new sig better than the other one you gave me. Who said the other one about "let em figure it out on the pine, the pine helps people figure things out"? Bear Bryant, lloyd Carr, Joe Pa?

Why would someone go back to coaching school if they just got schooled?
I think you meant to say owned but you're good though.

quote:this is one example of how a bump and run can be used but its not what bump and run is.... you can bump the wr whenever the frick you want to, a d coordinator is not going to call in a play saying "nickel bump and run" everybody but the corners dont have an assignment in this case. so no you are still wrong... but nice try though

So are you saying that we can't bump and run in a cover two or Dime defense? The corners can only bump in nickel packages?

Posted on 9/2/10 at 12:51 pm to TigerWilson88
Geeze. This is still going on?

I'd just admit that I goofed up the first time instead of posting something that doesn't 100% prove your first point. there are no such things as bump and run coverages or packages. It is a technique that CBs use to jam a WR at the line.

TF hasn't made his point yet. So we are giving him ample oppertunity to "take us to coaching school"

Alright, I'm tired of this thread.
TF5 to sixth power,
The reason it appears that the middle of the field is open on "bump and runs" is because in these nickel packages, the coverage formations are normally "nickel cover 2 man bump."
This means:
1) Defense is in nickel package - 4 DL, 2 LBs, 5 DBs
2) The defense is playing a cover 2 package - this means the CBs, the NB, and the LBs are playing man coverage while the SS and FS are playing over the top zone coverage split.
3) The bump signifies bump and run on the outside.
So when the LBs cover the RB and the TE/FB man to man, the middle of the field opens up.
A WR that can shake loose of the bump coverage on the outside will often be open in the middle of the field because the safeties are playing over the top.

Makes too much sense. I want to hear what TF5 has to say. It's much more entertaining!

How else is he going to take us to coaching school? He still didn't answer my question though. Maybe I didn't raise my hand high enough.

As I said earlier yes there are many ways to run a nickel package...the way that I drew it up was cover 3 with the nickel, free, and SS each having 1/3rds, obviously you can run cover 2 withe SS and FS deep 1/2's...like i said many ways to run it...
your lb's have man to man on TE/RB just like you said....
And you should know that our play calling was so predictable last year as we changed to running personel opp defenses were switching to a run stopping defense such as the one illustrated above, therefore strong against pass (nickel) but effective vs the run (middle pinch) + (backer edge) Nickel cover 3 bump Pinch
and im not paying any attention to the dumbshits still harping on bump and run...bump and run is obviously a technique that CB's do...it can also be apart of a call as i was stating in the beginning.....fricking idiots...

Whoa who pinched a loaf of poo poo off in your cheerios? No need to call names. You alluded to the fact that the bump and run was part of nickel schemes only. You may not have meant it that way, but that's how it came across. We just wanted clarification as to what you meant. Dang bro relax.
