When taken out-of-context? Sure. You must've either misread my earlier post or just skipped it entirely.

I read it. And I agree to an extent. But just because you are 6'5 220lbs doesnt make you an all-pro NFL WR. Production is what gets you to the pro bowl. Our offense throws it more yes, but that also means yards per catch will be diluted if we are bad WRs, our WR corp is still much better than LSUs...

Subjective arguments such as "our WRs are NFL caliber" means nothing when comparing WR corps. Yards gained and TDs scored is.

I will go with LSU WR's NFL earning power as to which team has the more talented corp

I don't completely disagree with you, but Lafell needs to have a few less drops and Toliver needs to get better separation. Every catch he makes seems to be with someone all over him. That way, he wouldn't have to complain that someone interfered with him on EVERY SINGLE incomplete pass.

There is nothing subjective about where a player gets drafted. Do you contend that the Arkansas WR corp will be drafted higher than LSU's?

Yards gained and Tds scored is a horrible way to compare WRs honestly.

It's like apples to oranges the comparison you are trying to make.

Funny how this thread got from LSU's defensive effectiveness against Arky to whose WR's are the best. Leave those hogs alone, they obviously don't have a freaking clue and are not worth arguing with.

So, I'll redirect and get back on target. Many wonder why our guys seem to give up so many yards. I believe it is Chavis' scheme of bend but don't break. But more importantly it's as has been stated numerous times on the Rant, LSU's offense isn't out there for very long. It's often 3 and out or 1 long play then 3 and out. They really are very good at preventing points this year which is the main objective of a defense. The offense has gotta do their part and play just a little 'keep away'. When the opposing team gets 30-50% more plays per game than LSU's, expect the stats to be just as much out of kilter. I'd say even more out of kilter due to the Chavis philosphy.

LOL @ average receivers comment. Arkansas spreads the ball around so much we don't have anyone that stands out.

And the running game has progressed nicely over the course of the season, including the 100+ yard performance from Dennis Johnson against Florida. MSU stacked the box on us an we punished them with long passes.

I think Lafell and Tolliver have more athletic gifts but overall our receivers are better coached.

Do you contend that JaMarcus Russell was drafted #1 by the NFL is one of the worst QBs in the League? In fact, he was benched.

So is the draft the best indicator of talent? OR is it once again, production on the field?

Then why does the NFL have combines? Why not draft off of stats alone? Regardless, I believe that we'll have a tough time slowing down your passing attack.

Im not saying LSUs WR corp is bad. They are pretty good, but as a whole WR corp, it is hard to beat Arkansas'. Deep, balanced, and good hands.

OK, let's go at this from a different angle.
As I use to tell my son when he played his HS football "you can be the hardest hitter on the team, but if you are to slow to get there to make the tackle your ability to deliver the hit means very little."

My point being LSU "may" have a couple of WR's that could start for ANY team in the Nation, but if your OL can't block the defense and your QB can't get the ball out to those studs, then their awesome height and speed doesn't effect the game much.

I never said our DBs were better than yours. We're talking about WR corp remember?

Definitely possible. You have all 4-5 stars on defense, and we have alot of 3 stars, but 3 star talent has a tendency to beat LSU as of late.

piglets will be blown out
Definitely possible. Our defense sucks.

The only way we get blown out by Arkansas is if this team gives up on the coaching staff.

And, while that is a possibility, it is nowhere near a certainty.

Some of you guys need to settle down and give it a few days before you jump.
