IN FOCUS: Ed Paris

Rootin' of the kid, he'd be a starter anywhere else. I know our defensive backfield is crowded but I'd like to see him get more PT.
Might have to make his bones on LSU ST, and shows his worth at the next level.

Gotta earn it. If he doesn’t see the field that means better players are.

I like him as well, but never thought he was SEC material. Always seemed stiff and lacked ball skills. Great Tiger though, highly touted out of HS.

Not necessarily. Believe it or not, there are politics involved in college football. (i.e. Clemson's QB situation)
LSU has a lot of young stars that they want to keep around, in order to do that you have to play them. CFB is an aggressive revolving door sometimes.
To Paris' credit, I think he understands that.

I wish he’d blocked that punt last week, was good to see him out there flying around.

Are you suggesting that the coaches keep better players on the bench just to keep some freshman happy????
Christ some people.....

feels like hes been forever..highly recruited, really thought he would become of our stars early

I'll say this. IMO, I believe Ed Paris should be in the game before JaCoby Stevens.
LSU doesn't want a rep for not developing young talent. Recruits see a 5-star athlete being placed at 3 different positions and start asking questions about their development.
I will also say the best ability is availability. Can't defend your spot if you're not there. Part of the reason Battle is still starting.

That’s not what he is suggesting. He has a point.
If you have similar talent at a position eternal classes you play the underclassmen. I think this might have something to do with Burrow.
Ed P is a badass by the way. We are super deep at safety though.

He was looking pretty good last season before he got injured.

I think he could be similar to Dwayne on that 16 defense.

His career arch has been disappointing as he was a 5* safety prospect at one point but the guy has shown tremendous maturity and leadership during his time here and has stayed out of trouble. Any coach would love to have an Ed Paris on his team.

Don’t know how he missed that punt!

He reminds me of Craig Loston. Both 5 star Safety recruits that never truly materialized into elite playmakers.

He recruited Jamal heavily and was a main factor in him coming to LSU, due to their friendship. For that alone he is alright in my book.

He seems like the care free type. He’s got skills my guess is maybe he doesn’t always work super hard. Maybe he’s content. Idk. He’s considered a leader

Loston started a big number of games at LSU. Loston was a good player during his time. He never developed into the SUPERSTAR, but he made some plays during his career.

Paris is definitely SEC quality and would be starting at most SEC schools. We just have a crazy amount of depth at the safety position these days. In most eras he would have been a multi-year starter at LSU
