How many fairweather fans wanted the coach fired?

Skip was untouchable at that point. He owned the 90s.

I remember seeing that score when I was a kid that night and that sucked! It felt so good beating their arse in the College World Series for the championship!

Anyone who knows cbb (especially at that time) knows the margin of victory didn’t mean anything. You get down a certain amount and start using pitching that’ll never be used in meaningful games

LSU has too many 1 game reactionary fans.
Alabama was the 2nd best team in the country that year.

Who was their player that had a great year but got hurt before the game started and didn’t play?
Seeing Doug Thompson come in and close them out is one of favorite memories from that team. That and Larson’s moonshot against Rice.

Skip had won 3 of the previous 5 national titles and was coming off another titles in 1996. No one and I mean no one was calling for skip to be fired

This is a retarded thread.

What's your point?

If it's we have dumb-arse fans -- then no shite, you're on tRant. Look at the threads this morning.

TD wasn't around back in '97, but fans still were. No one wanted Skip fired, of course.

Maybe you can expand on your point so it makes sense to others?

LSU entered the weekend already with a share of the SEC title. LSU only needed to win one game to gain sole possession of the title. LSU won the Sunday game.

LSU also beat Alabama in the SEC tournament to move to the one game final while the loser would be looking at playing 3 extra games the week before the NCAA tournament.

LSU of course beat Alabama in the national title game. LSU beat them in every game that mattered.

1997 may have been LSU's best team ever, even 1996. That team's slugging %age was through the roof.

After that huge loss at Bama, the Tigers were a bashi-bazouk! I think the team finished winning 13 of its last 14! And the CWS, Tigers won all 4 games, in nothing but purples!

Yeah I was there Sunday. Watched the Saturday game next to an older man. That Sunday saw him again and found out he was Doug’s dad. Glad we didn’t trash Doug.
