They get off the field about 25x more than last year. That’s an improvement in my book. We’re also getting turnovers which almost never happened last year. The DBs aren’t great but they do seem to be at least in a position to make a play instead of getting burned.

I think Baker needs to be more aware of his tendencies and mix it up more. In the first half we had some blitzes and UCLA had the perfect call and burned us. We had a heavy blitz right when they dropped a screen pass for a big gain. Another time we had a zone blitz and dropped a DE to cover the flat and they had a fast RB doing a quick out and the DE had no chance to cover.

We are really a couple years behind due to hiring House. Not only did we not recruit particularly well, but we had bunches transfer out. Once we get personnel, this defense will be nasty.

But hiring People's was fricking brilliant. Can't even begin to say how impressive he's looked so far. I used to hate when we'd rush three because the QB would have all day, but now, even with 3 men rushing we are getting pressure. Damn.
