re: If the orgeron experiment goes wrong how would you feel about Aranda being promoted?

I'd be all for it. In temperament, Aranda reminds me of Mike Krzyzewski. I like the idea of Raymond being promoted to DC running Aranda's scheme. Get the best OC you can to pair with Aranda. You could pay Aranda $4M/yr for 5 years and give the OC a 3 year contract for $1.2M/yr and we'd be in better shape, more stable, and experiencing less drama than what we are seeing now. I'd be willing to let Aranda grow into the job with two 6 or 7 win seasons to set a good foundation for the long term.
I'm tired of the duplicity. It is obvious that Alleva wanted to hire O, knew that there would be strong opposition and put on a show to give the impression he was serious about creating and maintaining an elite program. O was hired, allegedly, because we couldn't hire Fisher (the established championship-caliber HC), or Herman (the young, promising HC prospect), but it would work because we would keep Aranda and get the best OC we could. That didn't work. O can blame Canada all that he wants but the reality is he needs to be able to manage talented people with big egos and I don't think he can. He looks to be resorting to hiring people he knows, not "the best coordinators in the business." I say fire O and Alleva now, hand it over to Aranda and let him name his staff.

Well we wouldn’t know if he would meddle in the offense. It’s funny how everyone says they want a qualified guy for Head Coach yet many support a guy who has never been a head coach
Every head coach was at some point not a HC.
Aranda knows how to run a defense, and run it successfully, at multiple jobs. Most often, that's the type of job that precedes a HC job. So he is absolutely qualified.
You, on the other hand, are saying what qualifies someone being a head coach, is for them to be a head coach.

I would bet anything that if there were a study done on success rates in HCs, we'd find that those that held a coordinator job previously hold a better win percentage than those that have never run either side of the ball.

I wonder if a portion of Georgia fans were pissed and said all year but he is one of us
O wasn’t my first choice but I didn’t cry about the hire bc after whiffing on everyone’s top 2 it seemed JA May have panicked (not good) but there were things about the hire that made sense...allowed for an easier transition with recruits, could keep Aranda, save money to pay the best assistants.
He seems to be getting support from the players bc they didn’t quit on the season. The team improved over the season and he has done well recruiting...the linemen alone will pay off over the next few years. Outside of the “meddling” which we don’t even know any particulars about he has done a good job.

Well, I was a strong advocate of Aranda being the hire.
The one reason I was happy about O was I knew we were keeping Aranda. I don’t think Aranda even voices that he wanted to be considered...do y’all know if he did? Kind of hard to choose a guy that doesn’t even throw his hat in the ring.

You were one of the ones crying we didn’t hire a guy better than Miles...so now you are saying Aranda would have been an upgrade over miles?

You're not going to find many more people in the game with a better football mind than Aranda. From that standpoint, yes it would've been an upgrade.

If Aranda wanted to be a head coach, I’ve never heard him say he does and many say he wants to be nfl DC, I would love him to be our HC one day but I am willing to give a guy a shot and take a chance...some of y’all have made it known it is a guy like Jimbo or bust.
