It could have happened after his 1st year at AL. It will never happen after he is undefeated in the SEC in his 2nd and 3rd years back in the SEC and just won the BCSNC. Never.
But we got the hat - let er rip. We have the want to dominate.

What makes people think this matters?
Someone would have to crunch the #'s but I think we would be looking at a double buy-out, i.e., 1) to pay off Les (won't be cheap) and 2) to pay TCU's buy-out for Patterson.

If he hasn't been mentioned, which I'm sure he has but I'm too lazy to read this entire thread, then I nominate what would be the greatest hire in LSU history.

Not one of you have mentioned the obvious. There isn't a coach in the country, young or old, that is better than Saban or Meyer. REGARDLESS of who you get at LSU, you'll still be in the same boat - playing Alabama and Florida every year.
I'd prefer staying with consistency and a proven winner in Miles; not to mention honesty in the program and genuine care for the players.
Realistically, while Saban and Meyer are in the SEC, LSU can expect to win the SEC West once every 4 years; the SEC Champ once every 6; and contend for the NC once every 10.

Mike Leach has a coaching style very much like Saban

If that is your criteria, our current coach comes much closer. Put me in the devil you know camp (because I was at LSU when we dumped Charlie Mac). Run off a guy that has been a good face for your program, has had Top 5 recruiting classes virtually every year and a winning % almost anyplace in the country would salivate to have and people aren't going to rush into replace him.
