have you seen Miami's schedule? they play one ranked team in Nov.Could have one loss heading into ACC championship. LSU controls its own fate but beating Miami may help LSU down the road!its all about making the playoff. odds of 4 undefeated teams making it to end of season not likely.

If you don’t start drinking in the morning you can’t drink all day.
Where exactly are you going with all this?

Wow ok ! thought i explained it pretty well. beating Miami may help if there are a bunch of one loss teams at the end of the season maybe you have already stared drinking?

It's a valid point.
One of the "natural laws" of the rankings is that - once a team is ranked - as long as they keep winning, they will keep passing up losers each week.
Miami could play the Little Sisters of the Poor every Saturday, but if they were to finish 10-2 or 9-3, they'll probably be at least top 25.
If LSU were to finish 11-1 but miss the SECCG, that Miami win could be good CFP ammo.
At this point, I think VT beats Miami. But Miami should be favored in all their other games. At BC is another potential loss for them.

From what standpoint? SOS? Literally no one has Miami as a playoff team right now. They are ranked 21. That is unlikely to skyrocket given what you describe as a weak schedule. They are highly unlikely to be ACC champions. Not sure why our victory over them would be more important than victory over Auburn and at least one of Alabama and UGA, and likely the necessary SECCG win.
ETA: I remain happy about the Miami win. However, I think it will have very little to do with us getting into the playoff. Clemson will clean Miami’s clock.
We have to beat, at a minimum Bama or UGA to have any chance. If we lose to Bama and beat UGA we have to hope UGA also loses in the SECCG.
If we lose to UGA and beat Bama we have to beat UGA in the SECCG.
Outside of these scenarios we do not get in.

It’s not a masterpiece, but he makes sense.
Miami is good enough to run the table for their division. It’ll improve LSU’s resume.
Time will tell. Clemson/Virginia Tech could stumble.

That's not his point at all. I mean, yeah if Miami were to win the ACC, that would be absolutely huge for LSU's CFP resume, but considering the other games LSU still has to win, I don't think LSU needs Miami to be a playoff contender. They just need Miami to be good enough for the committee to respect that win.

Agreed. Imo they have a great shot at facing Clemson without losing another game. At BC and Va tech are the only 2 they could possibly be underdogs in and both are winnable. They probably get housed by clemson, but stranger things have happened for sure and I have a lot of respect for Richt.

Somebody gets it! There is alot of season to go but one/two of the top teams will trip up whether it be clemson/ok/ohio state. this is where that one loss will be judged against other one loss teams. I think we honestly have a chance to beat UGA/miss state and finish with one loss.it may actually come down to an undefeated OU/ohio state and a 1 loss LSU team for a playoff spot. With the big ten being so weak i believe strength of schedule could put LSU in instead of ohio state. This is why you want Miami going 10-2.

I completely agree. I believe Miami will run the table and be a top 10 team at the end of the regular season. The ACC championship will more than likely be a top 10 matchup.
I also think people are righting Miami off as not good just because LSU handled them. Maybe at this point people should start to think that maybe this LSU team is really good, especially the defense, and not so much that Miami is bad.

Excellent point. Some talking heads picked Miami to go undefeated before the season. That win could end up putting us in the playoffs.

Go ask the 2007 team how important the Va Tech win was, then get back to us.
