I think some of us are gonna need to learn some patience because this is gonna be a long off season. I'm willing to temper my enthusiasm after the recruiting bash. But, I will say that if we're able to get through next season and win the SEC and BCS with one or less losses, it'll help to take some of the sting from the embarrassment in the Superdome.

USC better get it done this year or maybe next. The scholly cuts start this recruiting season. They will struggle until 2018 at least.

I have come to accept that LSU vs USC in the NC is too good to be true and will never happen.

I hope I'm wrong very soon!

Probably will not happen, but.....

it takes talent and LUCK to get to an NC game..
we go there this year....

and it was and will always be a shame that our coach surrender and went down without firing all of the bullets we had.

This was a game that Les allowed to slip by him without trying to fight for it.

lack of preparation
too stubborn
his desire to be right overshadowed the importance of the game

even if he wins many more NC games, this game will always be the game in which Les surrendered/quit.

Yeah, people don't understand that it takes more than talent to get to the NC, it takes luck and execution as well. Honestly, how would our season have turned out if Oregon hadn't fumbled away 21 points and possibly beaten us? This season was special, next year is not a given. That's why our no-show in the NC sucks so bad...Oh, not to mention the pollsters will do anything in their power to keep us out the big game if they can considering the snoozefest we produced in the NC.

Not this crap again.

Time to move on.

I can't think of any game this season where you could say we were lucky to win. You could make a case for being lucky against Bama, but overall it was a dominating season. I expect the same thing next season with an easier schedule.

There is obvious "luck" (The ball bouncing straight to us on the fake fg against Florida).

There is also less obvious "luck". This would include things happening that aren't miraculous, but are quite unusual. That's why I used Oregon as an example. They were winning the game before the decided to fumble 21 points to us. This is not going to normally happen, but we were fortunate. It is still obvious that we are the better team, but everything fell our way so much so that we dominated everyone on our schedule except Bama...I doubt that happens this year, law of averages. In other words, I don't think we are three touchdowns better than Oregon, or Arkansas for that matter...

Not saying we can't make it, just saying I think we will play a few more "close" games this year.

LSU would of ran the ball down their throats.

USC offense would not of been able to run the ball on our D, and barkley would be in for a rude awakening not having less time and tighter windows to throw into than what he is used to. USC had not seen a single defense even close to LSU's defense this season.

You're talking about 2 different seasons in these two quotes.

We stepped on every team we played this year with the exception of one.

That's hardly being "lucky" or having things "fall our way."

Having things fall your way is like what happened with Arky this past season, when 3 teams ahead of them lost and then they go from being #6 to being #3. They were overrated to be at #6 (not saying they're not a good team, so don't misunderstand).

Being lucky is having a QB throw a hail mary and win the game by one (ala Cousins at MSU).

Neither of those examples pertain to what we did this past season.

Agreed. Look at the "pounding" USC gave Stanford. We'd crush both of those teams.

LSU's offense averaged 35.71 ppg to USC's 35.75 and that includes the goose egg in the NC game. LSU also scored 10 more Offensive TDs than USC this season and that is vs. the #1 strength of schedule in the country vs USC's #22 ranked schedule. Throw on top of that USC's defense gave us 23.58 ppg and they lost to Arizona State

Whoa Whoa Whoa!!!! The OP is talking about people in So Cal, they don't know nearly enough about football to comprehend any of that....seriously

The point I was trying to make is that even teams with superior talent rarely crush all competition. This season was one-sided in our favor, and we caught a few breaks to make it so one-sided...do I think we beat Oregon without the uncharacteristic fumbles they had? Yes. Do I think we curb stomp them? No. We are a touchdown better than Oregon, not three touchdowns better. Any unbiased fan can see that.

the 312-----I doubt very many USC fans entered into that mode of thinking. It is way to early to speculate on the BCS next season. However I believe that almost any team would have handed LSU its arse on that given night. Tulane would have gained more yards and achieved more first downs. Anyway the comment was over the edge.
Screw you.

Ok.
but a loss would made us the 'new Choke-lahoma' (Or OSU). Runners up twice. Kind of ups the ante if we get in. We'd need that Auburn 'all in' attitude or look like fools.

Losing in the nc this year, the way we lost was a total embarrassment to the program and will come back to haunt ius....and we may not get the benefit off the doubt next year and get left out.

Do you think a win over the Trojans in next season's BCS championship game would help alleviate SOME of the sour taste from Monday's championship game?

mmmmmmmmmm....NO
