My fears are realized and our run game tanks.
Swapping the identity of the offense 10 days before the first game, vs the 3rd ranked team in the nation is not the recipe for success. Hopefully the coaches can replace the horizontal stretch and misdirection JJ brought with some passes that sort of do the same thing.

What issues going into the season do we have that aren't QB-centric?

Lets not forget that this was an issue before JJ got suspended. Rampant speculation about his improvement was nothing new as it's been going on for years.

We have many issues that have yet to be proven on the field besides the qb. Our LB core is only returning one guy who played very well last year -- although minter had some good plays.

We are returning defensive tackles who had good pt last year, but none have yet to prove themselves to be superior to any other defensive tackle in college football.

Kiki Mingo is one hell of a pass rusher -- but we still have to see if he continued to progress from last year.

Sam Montgomery had one of the most serious injuries you can have as a college athlete. We still have to see what he does in a game situation regarding his recovery.

I think the only thing that we are 100% certain of is that our defensive secondary will be badass and our offensive line/ tightend/ rueben randal/ and stable of running backs are damn good.

Everything else right now is just expectations -- and while the probability of those expectations being accurate is very high -- kick off still hasn't happened yet.

I think as long as well play well against Oregon, we can still lose and go on to win the MNC (as long as we win out besides oregon.)

if we cant beat uo their is no way we win out the s.e.c

If Lee plays well I honestly do not see how we lose unless our guys fumble a bunch. Our lines are significantly better on both sides.

Good point, but we could have like 5 fumbles or something

We've got 2 guys coming back with significant experience and another with good experience. None of them will be counted on to play the same role that Sheppard played. We have DBs (Taylor and Reid) that will take over that 'DC on the field' role.

Brockers and Downs have both played enough in rotation that they can be considered returning impact players (different than returning starters). We have also added significant talent to that position, and have had good development there as well.

Even if he hasn't progressed, he will still be, according to you, one hell of a pass rusher.

What DE from last year is not back? If Sam is not 100% back, we've still got 5 other guys (from last year) plus Rasco ready to go.

I agree, there are questions at WR beyond Rueben Randle.

Reasonable expectations. The biggest worry rifht now is FGs and punts. We've seen enough of Lee to know what to expect and hopefully be pleasantly surprised. The difference between the last time we relied on Lee and now, is that now we have a premier defense.
