I'm not talkin about what happened in 2002, I know Kentucky's QB what's his name doesn't sit in the pocket all day like he did against Pelini's D or McFadden run all over the place from the "wildcat" like he did against them.
did you watch the Kentucky game? They used rollouts to kill us all game. We also lost our Jackson and Zenon to injury during the game helping our D fall apart

Of course not, but his scheme didn't do anything to even slow them down. That Bama D wasn't totally devoid of talent, and LSU's talent in that 07 game was severely limited due to injury and fatigue as well.

Yeah, I was responding to TigerBait's post. Just put them under one reply. Didn't mean for that to be directed at you.

Steltz too. I think his neck is still longer than it was before that blindside.

Yeah, cause he dropped that TD pass that he threw to himself. You know the one, right in his hands, dropped.

I liked JR.
Most LSU fans who have a brain would feel the same. He played for LSU and was responsible for a great deal of our success.
JR= Best throwing QB LSU has had in the last 15-20 years.
Let it go.

with the rollout thing 1127 is talkin about, Saban's style of defense doesn't allow you time to do that shite, not with blitzes comin in from all over the place, you have to make a fast decision or get sacked, plain and simple.
the injury and fatique factor, LSU is a powerhouse school loaded with talent, so I'm not byeing that either, if anything I thought Pelini overused Dorsey and hurt his career.

I guess David Greene made a bunch of 'good' fast decisions in 2004.

Dude, I'm one of the biggest JR fans on this board. He's the best QB LSU has ever had, but these comments are just silly. Our passing game was great in 03. Clayton, Devery, and Skyler would not have had the years they had without Mauck's great play. He had as many TDs as JR did in 06. And Flynn didn't lose to two bad teams. LSU did. And Flynn did everything he had to to win those games. Both of those losses were on the D.
Mauck played terrible in most of our big games. We beat Georgia, Ole Miss, and OU inspite of Mauck. He's a great leader, but he didn't play very well.
and i wasn't knocking either one of them

Dude, when did I make excuses? All I said was Saban's D got ripped by Arky too. You said LSU had more talent, and I'm just telling you the D that was on the field that day wasn't as talented as you might think because of the injuries they were battling through.
Sure the scheme still sucked and we played terribly. No excuses. I was a huge critic of Pelini's D down the stretch. But Saban's scheme wouldn't have been as effective either with the condition of the team at that point in the season. And his "scheme" didn't look all that more effective either when he played them earlier in the season. Same talent or not.

VooDoo we cool, but that does sound like excuses to me, all I'm tryin to say to people is that the defensive football Saban employs is better than Pelini's, Saints fans will find that out this year with Williams.
but i forgot how much people hate Saban.

I don't hate Saban one iota. But you can't cherry-pick games a 'Saban' team would have performed better in vs a 'Miles' team without acknowledging some eggs laid by some of Saban's squads.

I really don't hate him man. I just always try to be realistic and have some perspective. I loved Saban's Ds, but I just really have a lot of respect for that backfield of DMac, Jones, and Hillis, and they were on a mission that day. It just seemed to me like one of those days where they wouldn't be denied.

We would have been undefeated with JR.
BUT a large portion of racist LSU fans would still hate him as they do now.

while i don't blame that game on Flynn, he did throw some bad passes down the stretch that helped us lose. It was a team effort, especially the D (and Miles benching Scott). The interception in the 4th turned momentum
Posted on 7/1/09 at 11:00 am to Tiger Voodoo
yeah, hopefully Chavis will get them back on track with an attacking style of defense.
Posted on 7/1/09 at 11:02 am to Tiger Voodoo
I doubt Saban woulda looked bad against Arky in both 06 and 07 though. We didn't seem to slow em down either time with Bo. Damn you Bo P!
Posted on 7/1/09 at 11:02 am to TigerBait1127
IDK 1127, I know JR's talent was allworld, but I just can't help but think if he could have just put a TD on the board against Auburn in'06, it would have went a long way with me.
