I thought that the email I received today from the LSU President...

...was going to be about the athletic department before I opened it. lol
Dear LSU Family,
Universities like LSU have important missions to fulfill. We are responsible for educating the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and doers. In fact, as a member of the 1% of U.S. universities holding land-, sea-, and space-grant designations, we are tasked with generating research that will solve the world's biggest challenges where they hit closest to home right here in Louisiana. Disease, coastal erosion, diminishing supplies of clean water -- you name it, and LSU is working to solve it. And we are committed to giving back to our communities through outreach and support.
In recognition of the critical role we fill, LSU is recommitting to our flagship roots through our new Strategic Plan. This document outlines a razor-edged focus on six challenges facing our state:
Advancing Arts & Culture
Bridging the Coast, Energy, and Environment
Fostering Research and Catalyzing Economic Development
Improving Health and Well-being
Transforming Education
Developing Leaders
Through channeling our collective efforts toward real-world problems that have local ramifications and global implications, we will provide our students with a world-class education that sets them up for success throughout their lifetimes.
We think that's a mission worth having.
Sincerely,
F. King Alexander
LSU President

He's trying to convince people that LSU's main focus is academics and not football. Its what schools do when their football team sucks.

I know the university's main goal is education and research. No one disputes that.
But is there any doubt that the timing and content of that letter is specifically to remind football fans of their place.
That letter to me says we are stuck with Alleva and O for as long a FKing is around and frick any football fan who presumes to tell him their opinion.

Good
But what he needs to learn is we need a good football team ($$$$) to make those things happen. Football at LSU should be a priority and something to invest in for the good of the university.

IMO... Those are the words you need to focus on in order to understand what is happening( rather what is being allowed to happen) with football. The BOS perps were put in place to make sure that this transformation takes place. if you are unaware what transforming education means you need to do some research.
It’s right there in the plan and is focused on improving Louisiana’s K-12 experience for its children in the state.

The President puts an email out every month or so on different topics. Don't think this has any specific underlying message. While I know we all agree LSU is a "Football" school, we had three sports reach their respective finals or play for a championship over the last year in Softball, Baseball, and Gymnastics. I think LSU needs to remind itself of what it's Football program has afforded them through donations, fan and alumni support, national exposure, etc and take the appropriate measures to ensure the integrity of its Football program. Just my 2 cents.
