Good game altogether, but they should have backed off the JJ option package. He looked like Dan Marino would have looked trying to decide to pitch or keep in the face of an oncoming LB.

I agree on the O Line. If they could just improve 5% I think we'd be very dangerous. When JJ had time today, he ripped their D apart.

I've been worried about the o-line as well but today they showed something. They were puking their guts up, literally, and hung in there.

This could be a turning point!

UGA still converted way too many 3rd and longs

really? What did they convert, like 2?

Offensively, still saw limited Sheppard in the 2nd half, inexplicable

1) he wasn't dominating like he has been--the risk might not have been worth the reward

2) he got a VERY significant carry at the end of the game in the 4th quarter while we were losing

3) ground caused it, but he did fumble in the 1st half. I don't think that was a mental thing as much as a physical one, though. Dude is not very big.

and the d'oh moment at the end of the half

that was the only thing that was really bad imho

better coaching? Sure. Good? No

If you don't think that overall coaching was at least "good," then you're expectations are unreal and will never be met.

My criticisms of the coaching are the 4th down call when a FG would've put us up a touchdown, and the fact that Peterson wasn't on AJ Green on a few plays. Also would've liked to have seen more Shepard when Jefferson was getting killed dropping back to pass. Otherwise I thought they did a good job. Defense was overall strong, and the poor performance of the OL through much of the game really limits the offense.

Yea but that was a pretty huge series

the defense played well for sure, except for that

and shite Jefferson needs to gain some pokey awareness quick

I personally only had a problem with the Offensive play calling near the end of the half and beginning of the 3rd qtr.

See, I liked our strategy of throwing the ball. It was there. Our dudes were open. JJ just didn't have enough time to get it to them.

You must be blind. Coaching and play calling sucked.

the pocket awareness is just something thats going to have to happen in time. the playcalling needs to adjust until then

that final drive he was cool and calm though. Made a nice throw with a guy right in his face

Some bad play calls in the Red Zone

I think it was more execution than play-calling

VERY poor clock management at the end of the half

Yes, it sucked. But we had a young QB and no timeouts. Again, it sucked, but not nearly enough to give the overall performance anything but an "A."

Shepard still averaged over 5 yards a carry

no excuse not to play him more in the 2nd half

amen. however, since we should have won by 30-40 points, we should fire coach miles.

yeah, he was night and day. He got rid of the ball instead of holding it.

I think it helped that UGA was giving some cushion too.

he would have been 100% on that drive except for some drops. Though a few passes were off, the WRs made some nice catches

If we had a really good offensive line, we'd be very unbeatable this year. More dominate than the 2003 or 2007 teams. With a mediocre line, this season is going to be interesting.

overall I felt we actually came to play for the first time all season. That's on Les

i agree, but there were still problems

my one problem with this coaching stafff is

they find something that works, THEN THEY GO TO SOMETHING ELSE

it was evident on our 2nd and 3rd drives

and we need to quit forcing the option with jefferson. its blatantly obvious he doenst yet have the decision making abilities to run it 100%

other than that, our first half gameplan was phenomenal outside of our redzone plays

the goddamn defense. id bow more but chicken wont let me have enough bows

This is only in retrospect. I be almost 100% of us thought we should go for it. With as much as we dominated the 1st half, being up 13 would have been huge. And you've got to think your 6'4" QB can get 6 inches.

This is a factor I think a lot are missing. Our Oline is really hamstringing Crowton.

45 seconds left and you can't kick a FG or throw a pass into the endzone? That's poor playcalling, clock management and execution.

my biggest complaint with this staff is that they seem to take the ball away from the hot hand

but these guys know their players WAY better than any of us do, and its easy to make criticisms from a sofa

that said, i can't really justify many of the calls but the whole "fire miles" crap blows my mind

i mean seriously the guy gave us a NC and three top 5 finishes, and minus all the pick 6s and last year could have easily been a great year

the combo of jjs lack of pocket presence, plus our average oline, equals either a perfect play, or jj running for his fricking life. we will have to mix in more screens to make the defense be honest against us

There was nothing wrong with going for it on that 4th down

if you can't get less than a yard with a big QB and big RB, then idk, that's something you have to get
