But we have to say at this point that we aren't very good, right?

At present, we may be at the low point of the whole season. We are living off the hype and hope from last season.

That said, we realize the college baseball is almost all about peaking at the right time. There's still time. Everybody, and I mean everybody needs to play better if we're going to make a run.

Depends on who you ask. Some people think it's still early and plenty of time to decide to finally win games.

Unfortunately, there will be years when our team does not live up to very lofty expectations. This is one of those years.

Not trolling at all here, but I can't remember any LSU team where the pen was this bad. The lineup is pretty good, at the time I was feeling pretty butt hurt about Deichmann's moonshot to Claiborne

We aren't too far off record wise from where we were at this time last year. But the scenarios are polar opposites. Last year, we had only Fraley returning as a position player. This year, it was only Fraley who wasn't returning.

Any sensible fan would've readily acknowledge that '16 would be an uphill climb. And it was. But as the season progressed our bats became functional and we became a national seed. Give CPM credit (if for nothing else than hiring AC).

Conversely, any sensible fan should have had great expectations coming into this season. And so far, with rare exception it has been disappointing. Apart from Deichmann, I don't know of anybody who has improved. Freeman is about the same. The rest have regressed.

I mean the 2008 team made everyone that way.

26-16 overall and 6-11-1 in the SEC at this point in the season.

We aren't very good. At this point or at pretty much any other point this season. This team and this coaching staff just don't have it. LSU baseball is a middle of the pack SEC program now. We finished 5th last year (I think?) and we're about 7th now. That's about where our program ranks in the conference right now. The laurels we rest on have long since gotten old. We've won one title in the last 17 years, and that was eight years ago. Obviously, we are many years away from the next one, if there even is a next one.
