+9000000000
So, the fans were supposed to applaud the kid's performance before he stepped on the mound?!?!?!

The Pitcher or the LF that pulled his Hammey?

I seen many post-game feedings of opposition players & coaches after losses. Big deal.
How many times have you heard LSU fans applaud great fielding plays by opponents? Everytime one occurs. LSU baseball fans are knowledgeable and appreciate good baseball by both sides.

I know how they reacted.
And I guess you stood and applauded the opposing team's effort like a beacon on sportsmanship surrounded by pathetic, classless, front-running fellow LSU fans, right, Hotshot?
If not, just shut the frick up and stop being a dick for the sake of being a dick.

"There is no logic on this board."
Where is your logic?
What is the logic in finding blame with a standing ovation given an SU pitcher as he leaves in the 7th tied at 2-2???
Man, you are digging deep to find something to bitch bout. What's up with that? Bad day? Are you ill? Are you upset that only SU and LSU reached the post-season?

quote:You could bet that . . . and you would lose. I'm sure some people would've change their post-game plans if we'd lost, but there are still people out there cooking up food and passing out beers, even to the teams that beat us and their fans.
you can bet your arse they wouldnt be doin that had we lost.

quote:So, our fans applauded Southern's pitcher for doing a great job, and were frustrated that our guys weren't doing an even better job, and you somehow find a way to be pissed off about that?
Its Southern. It doesn't take a genius to figure out how everyone was feeling.

No, the arguement is that had SU won, we wouldn't be talking about how great of a performance the SU pitcher turned in but how bad LSU sucked. The SU pitcher only gets credit if LSU wins, otherwise its a fluke performance and more of a statement of how LSU played and not the talent of the SU pitcher.
See the Nichols game as an example earlier in the year.
I didn't attend the game because I was told to stay and work and no I wouldn't have stood and applauded his effort. I would have done nothing.
As far as I'm concerned, you can shut the frick up and don't come back throwing around some arrogant BS for the sake of it. I've been attending LSU games for years and its the same shite attitude in baseball, football, etc. for roughly the majority of the fans. But of course, you wont address the first paragraph of this statement. You're sure to want to get into a pissing match over being a 'super fan'.

if southern would have won nobody would be giving them praise. they would be bashing LSU for losing. i HATE when lsu fans act this way after wins, especially southern and other in state schools. i bet there are so many overweight guys with pots in the parking lot serving up southerns players, coaches and fans. you can bet your arse they wouldnt be doin that had we lost.
This says a hell of a lot more about you than lsu fans in the parking lot. Speak for yourself.

Have you visited an LSU tailgate after a bad performance...shite half the board wants to fire somebody after they lose a mid-week game or drop a football game to Alabama.

I am so sick of this point. Oh...those LSU fans are so "knowledgable". How does applauding a great play by the opponent make you "knowledgable"? Most of the people that walk into that stadium don't know dick about baseball. I have sat around them and hear them talk during the game. But someone at some point must have said on TV or something "oh those LSU fans are so knowledgable! They just applauded the other team's great play!!" and it kinda stuck. Point is, we are great winners, sore losers, and we love to eat our own (Jarrett Lee agrees with this). How many of you knowledgable football fans applauded some of those INT for TD's the other teams made last year? Were you not appreciating good football by the other team?

Damn fine point. Couldn't have said it better myself.

quote:A very, VERY large body of historical evidence (dating back to about '03, in the specific case of the Rant; dating back far longer in the general case of LSU fans) clearly and conclusively indicates that you are incorrect. What the history conclusively demonstrates is that we would be talking about both. Most of the talk would indeed be about how pissed off the fans are that LSU lost, but that is obviously to be expected on an LSU message board (just like most of the talk after we won was about how happy we were to win, with a small set of congratulations for the quality performance of Southern and their pitcher).

How knowledgable is debatable but i can say that they appreciate good baseball( home and visitor side).
I played here four times on an opposing team and we always loved it because of the fans appreciation of baseball

quote:Virtually every game that LSU has lost in any major sport in the last 5 years has been followed by at least some posts on here expressing congratulations or compliments on the performance of the other team. The fact that they are often outnumbered by posts bitching about LSU losing does not support your argument. The fact that they exist at all conclusively disproves your absurd assertion that is doesn't happen.

quote:Yes. In fact, I happened upon just such a tailgate party after the Georgia game last fall. Full of LSU fans bitching about the coaching, the QBing, the lack of defense, etc.; and congratulating every Georgia fan who happened by and sharing food and drink with those who were interested.

You seem to suffer some sort of misconception that a fan cannot be frustrated or upset by their teams' loss or level of performance, and still be complimentary and congratulatory towards the other team. Florida was a great team last year, and they beat us soundly with a very good performance. I was pissed off about our performance and congratulating the Gator fans at the same time. It's not that difficult a concept.
