It's Not the scheme (I believe Slinger is a good OC) backs need room to run ask Fornette about the game last year, and Joe needs time to throw. Even with max protection last night at times Joe had no chance. If we want to be elite we need to be so up front on both sides of the ball.

Les Miles would have had the offensive line ready to play

I know Miles had final say on OL and DL choices. However I don't think Miles was turning down 5 star prospects because he disagreed with Coach O's assessment. As recruiting coordinator you are head of recruiting. The simple fact is that coach O was on the staff as a defensive line coach and recruiter for years, yet last night he said that they needed better defensive lineman. As far as I'm concerned he's fully admitting he hasn't done his job correctly for a few years now.

The lack of recruiting quality and depth along the lines as opposed to skill positions for several years is to blame

I still think this is getting blown out of proportion. From context, it seemed like he was saying we needed _more_ defensive linemen (that are good).

Obviously we would need more if they're going to be on the field all night.

I'm not trying to make excuses for O, but people are really jumping all over this one - and it seems like a stretch.
