Ben Zobrist's value comes from being able to every spot in the infield and outfield if necessary. Although at this point in his career he's not asked to play everywhere, he's still asked to play 4 different positions regularly.
The reason there is value in being able to do that is limited roster spots and the expansion of the bullpen.
LSU doesn't face the same roster restrictions. So a super utility player isn't a necessity and wouldn't provide the same kind of value. With 27 SEC roster spots and only 3 starting pitcher spots, carrying extra relievers doesn't necessarily mean carrying fewer position players.
Additionally, we don't play 162 games in 180 days and we don't have the 27 man roster restriction for non-conference games.
The game is too different off the field to make an apples to apples value measurement between MLB and college baseball.

From what I have seen over the years, I think Coach Manieri has a tendency to micro manage the players too much in my opinion. Often times, coaches make unnecessary adjustments to players, especially on the offensive end. It screws with their timing and mindset, therefore not allowing them to perform at a level they should. They struggle to make the adjustments they are asked to do. For example, Garza was an opposite field power hitter in JUCO and am told that all they want him to do now is pull everything and not hit balls to Opposite field anymore. I saw a bunch of scrimmages in Fall and he was blasting balls over the fence in RF at BP and scrimmages, so not sure why he was asked to change that approach and it shows. Just my opinion!

I’m having trouble believing this
