LSU is weak at safety but the whole game has changed there. The years of the dominant, bone crushing safety are over. The game is too soft now with targeting calls.

It's not just safety. It's literally at every position. It's just showing up first at safety because we went heavy on the portal early in BK's tenure and haven't been able to replicate.

Targeting calls have been relaxed this year. Has LSU had an ejection this season?

Safety position has changed to guys who can cover better but thumper are coming back.
The pendulum swings.

Offenses have more success running the ball now that defenses are built to stop the pass. This is true in the NFL and college

Maybe it's the NIL Who knows but since you mentioned #2 he had several Non tackles he purposely whiffed IMHO! Maybe if you can't get NIL you can still get PAID?
