Might be the dumbest thing I've ever seen on the internet.
Once again, a very simple google search yielded:

So they've been on the field for more plays....maybe this is just an inability to get off the field by forcing 3 and Outs?
Actually, our 3rd down conversion defense is ranked 16th in the country at 34.3%

I don't really care what offenses they faced, or how many plays they have been on the field, A&M's defense gives up more points than LSU's, and since points, not plays run or yards gained, win games, ill take LSU's defense.
If a team has more possessions, that's more opportunities to score points. Just about everybody in the Big 12 runs the hurry up. It means both teams' defenses will be on the field for more possessions, which means that the scores will usually be higher.
My opinion is that the defenses are about equal. I think that our qb is markedly better and the rest of the offenses are similarly talented (we've both got dynamos at RB and WR).
However, our punting is atrocious. It's funny, I can just about guarantee that PP is not going to take one back to the house because our short punts make it nearly impossible to return one. We've actually got the 7th best punt return defense in the NCAA. The flipside is, when we're punting 30 yards/pop, we've basically built a 10-20 yard return in anyway, so as long as you can fair catch them everytime, you're golden with respect to field position.
It's gonna be an interesting game from an X's and O's stand point. I'm obviously picking the Ags, but I think it will be close

Not so fast...I like my link better! Two different links...one favors the SEC...the CLEARLY better conference....the other favors the little 12.

The second stat is RedZone TD %. A&M's offensive redzone TD % is ranked 49th against LSU's 70th ranked RedZone TD % defense. While LSU's offensive redzone TD % is ranked 100th going up against A&M's 17th ranked redzone TD % defense.
Looking too much into rankings like this can be dangerous. They put the stat up in the k state game yesterday that they had the #1 redzone offense.
Official rankings like these in college sports can give you a sense about a teams ability but really are comparing apples to oranges.
LSU's redzone offense reminded me of the Saints when we had morten Anderson. Very conservative and just get the points. I don't like it but well, it is what it is. When we needed the touchdown, we pretty much always got it.

You are correct about KState, that's why I like this stat so much better when combined with the 3rd Down Conversion % stat that I posted. It doesn't matter if you have the best redzone offense if you can't get to the redzone, as is the case with KState. If you're converting 3rd downs you are driving the ball and will get redzone opportunities. My point was that the stats show that we will have pretty equal redzone opportunities in this bowl game, but that historically with regards to this season, we will capitalize on more of them with touchdowns while you settle for field goals. This doesn't account for big plays or special teams or turnovers, just straight up offense vs. defense. If we can stay away from the big plays, turnovers, ect...I think we win this game
