It's quite remarkable actually. Last year he looked lost most of the time. In the first two games this year dude has been an absolute battering ram and he isn't whiffing on blocks anymore. On one of Ford's TDs he absolutely demolished an NSU LB and he did the same in the Oregon game. He'll be a big cog to this offense if he keeps that up.

JC's improved as well, and I even saw a couple nice blocks from Hilliard. FBs causing destruction again. I can dig it.

He has looked surprisingly good so far. No complaints so far. Copeland looked pretty solid as well.

The only thing I'm bothered by is that with 2 FBs looking pretty good, we still burned Hilliard's redshirt with a couple carries from the FB position.

So we should expect Hilliard to get a little "nicked" up this week..... got it.

The NCAA has locked down on the "nagging injuries" redshirt so he needs to tear something to be Guarenteed that redshirt unfortunatly

And once you play, you lose it

I believe we'll use Hilliard later this year as a runner, imo that's why we're getting him acclimated.

If you take one snap in a game, your red shirt is burned. If you get hurt and miss 3/4 of the season, then you can apply for a redshirt. In the past teams would have a 'handy' injury before the 1/4 mark of the season and then medically redshirt guys, but now the NCAA is more closely monitoring those injuries.

Regardless, a red shirt is a red shirt and you only get one and as soon as you play it's gone. What happens afterwards is semantics.

Not sure if it is still the case (I think it is) but you can only get a medical redshirt if you are injured prior to the fourth game of the season. Once you play in game four, you are not eligible for a medical redshirt.
