More than likely will win AP coach of the year and be in the playoffs in the next 2 years.

Can someone post Baylor's record and what kind of team he took over?

LSU fans would run Aranda off after one if he would have a 1st year like he had at Baylor last year. They were 11-3 the year before he got there and they went 2-7 last year.

I like Aranda and hope he is successful. He has started off pretty good this year, but I don't think Iowa State is very good this year and that's their big win, so I'm curious to see how they do as the season goes on.

2021: 4-1 (Aranda)
2020: 2-7 (Aranda)
2019: 11-3 (Rhule)

I’ll bet most of the haters here were hating on Aranda in 2019 when there were arguably some issues with the defense.

It was worse than that. The majority thought Bo Pelini would be a major upgrade.

Dude shut up. Since you're obviously a local yocal let me break it down for you:

Comparing what he took over at Baylor to what he would take over here is like comparing taking over Ben Franklin high School vs. taking over Catholic high

Same coach, at McKinley you're a hero to win 3 or 4 games. At catholic, you better win the championship every year

I definitely got caught up in the hype of returning to an “attacking” defense; had missed ends like T Jackson and S Montgomery ending QBs lives.

In our defense though, when the Aranda criticism peaked after 2019 OM there were some legit gripes:
everything about MSU 2017
giving Mond all day in OT 2018,
playing press man vs Bama with a 2-score lead, letting Plumlee run up and down the field like a coked-up arctic hare.

But what he did from then on, especially holding that Clemson O to 8pts in the second half, was more than enough to prove the above to be anomalies.

Nope not bullshite. The board turned on Aranda midway through 2019 season. His approval rating climbed back up a bit after the NCG but most posters here were not upset that he left for Baylor.

He has to be on the shortlist.

Napier
Aranda
Fickell
Fleck
Petersen
Freeze

If they all say no: Kiffin

Please stop because they either suck or aren’t coming here: Saban, Jimbo, O’Brien, Cristobal, Franklin

This fanbase is amazing! Lol. This is like the 10th Pro Aranda for Coach Thread. Nothing against coach Aranda but... you're high if you think Woody give the keys to Dave Aranda. Down vote away boomers and people who don't follow college football.

But Aranda was able to get the guys playing their best football by the playoffs, which was huge. It helped us stave off Clemson. Granted, I'm not sure if he is a good head coach or not. I would not pick Aranda for head coach - still too risky.

Haha, the facts remain though.

Yes, clearly LSU is a much better job than Baylor, but he did in fact take over a program in good shape at Baylor. Matt Rhule wasn't hired to be a head coach in the NFL due to not being successful there during a period with a ton of turmoil following the sexual assault scandal. They had one of their best years ever going to the Sugar Bowl the year before Aranda took over. They finished the regular season at 11-1 and made their first appearance ever in the Big 12 Championship game. Their only losses in 2019 were to OU (both overtime losses) and UGA.

I like Aranda, but Baylor had a really bad 2-7 year last year considering they were in the Sugar and almost won the Big 12 the year before. CBS Sports gave him an F grade for the season even with considering COVID disruptions (though everyone had to deal with them). He is learning to be a head coach and it would be even harder learning to be one in the SEC. I'm just saying LSU fans are not the patient type regardless of how much they like a coach.

I’m not sold on him as a hc yet. Let’s see how the year finishes. The benefit of him is he is known to The AD so he has much more background knowledge on what his competency is to be a hc. We always heard he didn’t like recruiting and didn’t do much of it. AD would know the extent of this or if even true. Or his pr abilities. We know he is a very smart guy. But it just maybe too early for him.

Baylor is Baylor but it was on the rise under Rhule. Could also have been Rhule knew it was time to get out as the talent was bare after his great year. I don’t know about that. That would be something Aranda would have to explain in an interview.
