Exactly! It's amazing some people still can't accept this.

I wish LSU would sign Miles to a very long contract.

They did....
Miles could still turn it around. Lesticles of '07 was better than Saban of '04. Lets see if he has any left in him.

The Ole Miss game made him nationally famous.
What is truly amazing is Harbaugh the coach of the Baltimore gave even a poorer coaching performance.
Baltimore down by 2 late in the fourth quater and at the 14 yard line pass it on 3rd down. It is intercepted. So they have an easy FG, one of te best backfields, and a historically strong defense but pass the ball? What makes this even worse was he had 3 time outs still after the poor play call. He ends up calling a TO a play later and then decides to use a challenge on a dumb play a few seconds later. So he spends two time outs for basically nothing when he could have been in the lead instead of praying for the ball back.
This happened the Sunday after the Ole Miss-LSU game. Did people go apeshit on Harbaugh? frick no.
People need to get the frick over some of this shite as coaches screw up every now and then. It is kind of bs that Miles got singled out.
Carroll was considered a coaching genius and he fricked up a shite ton with all the USC talent.
Saban had losses to UAB and ULM at SEC football programs. He then got insanely outcoached in the Sugar Bowl against Utah.
Tressel has gotten embarrased in two straight NC games.
Stoops can't win big games anymore.

Beating UF, Bama or Ole Miss will bring back fan support.
Never should have left. An 8-5 season and fan support leaves? Let's look at 2002 shall we? Truth is it was never there, let's not pretend.

John Cooper found out at Ohio State, two years after going 11-1 that boosters don't like regression.
John Cooper coached at Ohio State for 13 years & never won a National Championship there. He does not have Miles winning percentage.

Go start a poll on the plethora of message boards asking opposing fans what they think of Les Miles as a coach. Dare you.
Thank you for bringing this up! Les Miles is a very well-known Coach & he is Contraversial. Highly Marketable Commodity in a capable AD's hands..

This board is kind to him.
Someone correctly identified the "Nurse Rached" nature of this board. The shock value of the board has grown tiresome & boring.

Yeah, your basic answer is that everyone is delusional and wrong.
Not sure of your criteria, but winning a NC sets the bar. Larry Coker won a NC at Miami too, and is gone. Coaching, particularly when you get 4M a year is a tough and fickle gig. People expect elite results from elite pay.
I don't personally see another coach I would replace Miles with that is available. Sure wouldn't have taken Brian Kelley over Miles. But losing to Ole Miss, Bama and UF again will RIGHTLY put Miles in some very very hot water.

No. My "Basic Answer" is that some "LSU Fans", I guess that what we're calling them, have Never liked Les Miles & never will. They did not give him a chance. Do you see the people on here that are 2007 National Champioship deniers?
Miles knew he was folowing Saban here. But when he won it all, he very likely figured the fans might appreciate he & his staff's efforts. He was wrong though...he overestimated the LSU Fanbase.
Still in Love with thier Beloved Saban. The next coach knows that too.

I can talk a little about this. Coker would still have a job at 'da U, had it not been for the FIU fight, that made National News. There were other things regarding behavior problems, some were severe. The tunnel incident vs. LSU did not help. But the FIU fight is the reason why he was he is not employed at the University of Miami.
Larry Coker: 60-15 80%
Randy Shannon: 21-17 55%
As Joe Fan....which coach do you want?
I'm well aware Shannon got a raise & contract extension for Losing an average of 5.6 games per season.
Can you explain this..and why the BOS @ Miami suddenly felt the need, no.... "Had the Want" to offer an extention & raise?
You think Miami Fans & BOS are happy with that?

Hence the 10.2 Wins per season..
But Money was never a real issue anyway. His 2007 season alone, has easily payed for his 2 years on the new salary, with plenty of change to spare.

Also something that is lost with the Coker situation is he never put out an elite season in the ACC.

Got it. NC equals tenure. Job for life and immunity from any criticism.

Well I would say he deserves some slack considering last year wasn't that bad and he had to deal with the RP situation.

Obviously you didn't get it. I said his contract of over 3.7 Million, which he has been paid for 2 seasons was easily covered by the earnings he & his team brought to LSU with the 2007 National Championship Season.
Even simpler: 2008 & 2009 were paid for by 2007.

Since the pay raise, his SEC record is 8-8. I would say it could raise some eyebrows.
Some criticism of Miles by non LSU and LSU fans is warranted. Fire miles, too much ...too quickly. Not much out there I would want to take a chance on.
Since the NC, LSU is an average football team. As a fan, I would like to see better. Should LSU continue in that rut, I think there should be legitimate dialogue about the future of LSU football.

Truth.
Fair weather fans is what I have to admit to my SEC and other conference friends. We are becoming legendary nationwide for savaging and publicly booing our players and coaches.
For a team having earned two NCs in the last decade, this is indeed pathetic.

Yep 8-8 in '08 & '09. 3-5 & 5-3,....reversed.
Nobody can seem to answer this question: When exactly was the last time LSU played both #1 & #2 ranked teams during the same season in Football?

Criticism is one thing Character Assassination is something else, IMO.
But no need to worry, nobody on LSU's team or the Recruits read message boards. They didn't see the 14 pages on the Sylve kid who picked Bama & the mighty 4 pages for Trai Turner, who picked LSU.
:sarcasm:

Does it seem like Miles is getting attacked by an awful lot of media, for a coach who finished the season #17 in the Nation?
Perhaps this sudden influx of media interest isn't so random? Besides Sabanpalooza from Bama, seems there are might be some "Rogue" TAF at LSU as well..

This is so disingenuous.
We were 3-5 in 2008 and 5-3 in 2009.
5-3 is not really horrible in a good conference. It also shows fricking improvement from a bad year in 2008.

If you are happy with it, knock yourself out.
I for one hope Les can beat Nutt again. Small victories...Don't mind the Bama and UF ownership as much. Les Miles is somewhat the victim of his own success. Had he not won the NCG in '07, expectations would be much lower.

Doesn't that bring immediate questions about the LSU Fanbase? Why can some fanbases handle success better than others?

Don;t think there is a fan base out there that wouldn;t get restless about winning another conference title three years after a national chanpionship Sammich.
I agree some expectations may be unrealistic, not all but some...but you seem to think this is the only fanbase out there that levels criticism at the head guy based on high expectations.
If the offense looks ok, the defense is adequate. LSU plays in a decent bowl and wins some of the fanbase will be pacified for now.
I still believe he controls his own destiny. Just win.

UF had the same record in 2007 with the Jesus at QB.
I want a conference title again now also, but we have to compete with UF and Bama too. This is ignoring the fact we have several other solid programs in the conference.
We aren't in some weak arse conference where a team can rattle off 7 straight titles.
