There you go. I'd say that's reasonable.

What is it about my original post that leads you to believe I disagree with the prediction of a multi-loss season?

Are you going to live your life based on what other people think and say about you? LSU went undefeated as recently as 1958, so we're due for another undefeated, right? If we make some assumptions based on facts:
- We haven't lost a regular season OOC since UAB in 2000. Miles has never lost an OOC game, and the toughest OOC game we will play until the bowl game is App State, so assume we do not lose an OOC game in regular season.
4-0 versus OOC
- Arkansas and Mississippi are breaking in new coaches and, despite Arkansas being very game against us over the past few years, they are in complete Petrino rebuilding mode, which will probably take 3 years. Certainly 2008 they will be trying to make the moves he wants. Ole Miss just doesn't have the talent, so it is reasonable to assume that we go 2-0 against Arkansas and Ole Miss.
- Miss State is improving rapidly and this game may be more competitive than we would like. I still think the talent differential is too great and the game is at Tiger Stadium and is the conference home opener.
- South Carolina is a big question mark. They are capable of beating us (did it in 1994, in Tiger Stadium), certainly, but I still feel safe in calling this one a win on paper.
- Auburn, Florida, UGA and Bama will all be competitive games. LSU fans should not be in a position of assuming that we will win all or even one of those games. We could win every one and be favored to win the conference and probably the BCS. We could lose every one and have to deal with the rantards (and others) whining for 8 months how this team (with no proven QB or CBs) was championship caliber and the coaching staff screwed up by losing 4 games.
That's just life, brother.

I don't think you disagree with me. But for some reason, I get called out for being negative and focusing on losses just because I actually belive that we will lose some games this year.
Maybe I took your comment the wrong way, but when you say stuff like "pathetic" it makes me think you are calling me out.
The facts are, there is some kind of "what will our record be" or "will we lose to x team or y team" every day. And every time someone says I think we will lose to x or y in response, I see someone else calliing them out for not being a real tiger fan.

No one wants to admit that Les Miles is the next Larry Coker.

Well, Saban is the next Dubose.
Give it time and he'll be a fat lush.

as much as i'd like to see us go undefeated, i honestly feel like we could lose close games to fla and uga. fla will beat a tired uga and we'll get our day vs fla in the sec title game. i dont see auburn beating us and bama has less of a chance this year. nobody else is even worth mentioning.

Didn't mean to imply your aren't a real fan.
I mean we're on the same page, pal. It requires a little delirium to think we're going undefeated this year. I guess I'd just rather put off dealing with a loss until it occurs. Obsessing over losses is what I find "pathetic."

Funny when I post I think we are going 8-4 no one ever questions my fanhood.

The problem is, no one likes to predict a loss. I don't understand why people like you insist on dwelling on losses. Whats up with that? The losses will come from time to time and we'll deal with them as they come.
You shouldn't view this as people predicting a loss, as much as people expressing their confidence in the program. The true message that is being screamed to the masses, when you see a prediction of 4 losses or more, is that we can't overcome all the miscues, penalties, fourth down conversions and "one in a million" circumstances that saved us last year with a competent QB. Just sayin.....

Your biggest question mark is at QB. If someone steps up and gets it done, you'll be OK. If not, it will be a 3-4 loss year IMO.

And this is the reason for the dilema. We all know that a reasonable fan of LSU, knowing that we have to play Florida and Auburn on the road plus Georgia (collectively three of the preseason Top 10 teams in the country), and knowing we have to go on the road to face South Carolina and that Alabama will be extra motivated to back their coach come November, and knowing that we have a glaring question mark at three of the top 5 positions on the field (QB, CB, CB), would say that a 9-3 record is a successful season.
However, we did just win our second national title in 5 years and we are in the midst of a battle with USC (who is loaded and looking for a 7th straight conference title) for the claim of team of the decade, plus we all really want the Les Miles detractors predicting a fall-off now that Saban's players are largely gone to be quieted. And all that means that a 9-3 season would not be very satisfying.
In short, we're spoiled. It's OK to admit./

Hey, H-Town. I don't think both of the CB spots will be glaring, brother. I think that Peterson (formerly known as P. Johnson) is going to not only fill the spot well, but fill it very, very, very well. Also, I'm hearing good things about Hawkins. But, my problem is not with our talent, it's more with ill-preparedness for games, the stupid penalties, the bizarre substitutions, and the seemingly "out of touch" strategies that are employed.

that they think LSU will be 9-3, they are called disgraceful and they are not real LSU fans? Are you only a real fan if you have blinders on and think that we will go 14-0 every year? I don't think 9-3 is unreasonable at all. I think we go 1-2 vs. AU, UF, and UGA. And we lose one other SEC game. Does that mean I should turn in my season tix because I'm not a true fan?
I agree. Most fans here are just major homers but they are young and it should be expected I guess.
9-3 this year, would be a good season.

You ignorant gumps need to keep thinking that way.
After your lord and savior left Michigan State, his successor and current UAT assistant coach Booby Williams was fired in his third season--didn't even finish it.One bowl: the defunct Silicon Valley Bowl.
Coach Miles at LSU ? Peach Bowl win,Sugar Bowl win and a National Title in his third year.
But keep telling yourself the football world revolves around Little Nickie.

I think that many posters who give you crap about predicting a 9-3 season are very spoiled. You are probably dealing with many of the posters who didn't know anything about LSU football until the 2003 season. You know, those bandwagon fans. Don't let those fans bother you. Lord, help them if we do lose 3 or more games. They will go back to being a USC fan or whoever wins the NC game. Just like those fans that gave up their tickets to the SEC game because LSU lost to Arkansas. Only to find that when we were on our way to the NC game, they were trying to get tickets. Gotta love those fans.
