Not this shite again

He knew that there would be pressure? Absolutly. What he didn't know was that he would be thrown into being the starter as a RSF and take beatings from people like you on messege boards.
Lord, when it comes to recruiting, we say "why go to that school when you can get early playing time here". And we hear recruits saying the same thing, whether out of confidence or arrogance. Then when the time comes, players are off limits from criticism after getting exactly what they asked for? And it shouldn't have come as a total shock that he might be asked to perform when the starting QB is ejected quite some time before the season starts.

For those of you who bitch about how he's such a bad passer, you're not watching the whole game. Lee can actually throw some great passes that get dropped by SENIOR VETERANS Byrd and Lafell.
The very first one on this staff that needs to go is the WR coach. The receivers have been dropping balls ever since McCarthy set foot on campus. Who cares if he's a great recruiter if he can't teach/coach these guys on how to concentrate and hang onto the freaking ball. Big downgrade there from Todd Monken. McCarthy can't play the game for them, but there's been no improvement in the WR corps and none of the problems have been corrected.
That seems to be a common theme with this staff on both sides of the ball. NO IMPROVEMENT and NO CORRECTIONS to problems that are seen in the first game of the year. Here it is, the last game of the year and it's the SOS. Doesn't appear to be a lot of great technical teaching and coaching going on in this staff. If there was, you WOULD NOT see what we're seeing out on the field this late in the season........

In my best Judd Nelson voice, "B..O..O..H..O..O"
Ok, j/k. While I know Lee is hurting emotionally right now, he must understand he is in a grown-up world, like it or not. This experience could destroy him OR make him very very strong.
If I could say one thing to him, it'd be "You go around once. Embrace these times, be strong, and FIGHT with everything you have to be the best person/player/LSU Tiger. NEVER EVER GIVE UP! One day you will look back and the only thing you will regret is giving up.....don't."

What? I don't even know if this makes any sense. Are you saying that LSU recruits players telling them to come to LSU and you will start as a freshman?
You are missing the point. Lee was thrown into the starting QB situation. He has produced. If it wasn't for him we would have lost to Auburn!! He hasn't been very good and to be quite honest he's been terrible, but he doesn't deserve fans booing him.
Criticism is okay when its constructive.

Actually, with persistent failure comes criticism. I don't agree with booing Lee, of course; it's just counterproductive. If Lee can't endure criticism, then he picked the wrong position and the wrong school.

What I find interesting and Gary Danielson pointed out during the game on Saturday, is that Lee has never once shyed away from the media after games. He walked into the interview room and answered questions. I've heard of NFL quarterbacks that have bad games that don't face the scrutiny. For all that he has been through, he has maturely "faced the music". This is what impresses me about him.

No, he didn't.

If he cant handle the pressure of big time college football, then he needs to transfer to a school with less expectations.

If you don't know how to cook, then you have no right to complain about the food you receive.
That's probably the poorest argument I've seen on the Tiger Rant ever. If I don't know how to cook, does that mean I don't have other experiences to compare a single meal to? If I don't know how to make a movie, does that mean that I'm not allowed to compare a movie to other movies and offer criticism?

dude, the guy was supposed to be a 3rd string QB this year, holding a clip board, learning the system. Instead he was thrown into the fire and gave it his all for the purple and gold. Instead of supporting the young man, many have crucified him. Sometimes I am ashamed to be a Tiger fan. Truely.
We've all supported him at some point. We all want him to succeed. At some point, though, his mistakes warrant criticism, not just of him as a quarterback but of the coaching staff and its decision to keep putting him out there.

i agree with you there, but you were talking about criticism on message boards that he can easily ignore

And when the next one goes straight to a defender? And when you can no longer defend JJ because of his youthful mistakes and blunders? Will you turn on him too? You guys are missing the point by a mile.
Will the next one go straight to a defender? Until Jefferson has established that he is prone to the kind of mind-numbing mistakes that Lee has proven himself prone to, then I will continue to consider him the better quarterback.

no shite.... this years problems go far beyond qb play. people some how dont seem to get it.
No one is blaming all of our problems on QB play, but to fail to acknowledge that QB play has been problematic is asinine.

hmmm, interesting... while the WRs have dropped some balls... the first to go???? come on, have you watched this defense???

This began long before McCarthy set foot on campus..
Lafell has made huge improvements since the Auburn game last year..
and as i've argued before, check out the WR's catches. a LOT of them have been behind them, high, or a combination of both.. very rarely have they been hit in stride...

Who cares if he's a great recruiter
And next year you would be screaming about our bad recruiting class....
Now, i'm not saying they have been good, but... I think the defense has been a much worse problem than the WRs..
And Miles handling of the QB position...

Offensively, the Tigers don't believe in their quarterback play. They absolutely have no faith in Jarrett Lee, whose season has completely devolved into disaster. Lee was non-functional on Saturday, and when he injured an ankle which likely will end his season one could make a case that it was the best possible thing to happen to him. Lee has come back so many times from his own mistakes this year it has been truly amazing, and it's entirely possible had he not been hurt he might have been able to do it again (unlikely, but it has happened before). But at that point in his career, Lee looked like a guy who simply needed to sit down and decompress.
I'm told that the pressure and the adversity this year have frayed Lee emotionally, so much so that at this point he goes to class, goes to practice and goes back to his room - and that's it. He even eats his meals in his room from what I understand.
I hate to hear stuff like that, and I think some of this is a real testament to the effects you can derive from "fans" acting like asses rather than support their players during tough circumstances. But be that as it may, as much as you can feel for a guy who has gone through what Lee has gone through this year it's a real concern that a guy who's your starting quarterback should be reduced to hermit status. It's sad, and one can only hope that Lee can rebound from this next year.
Wow. That is horrible. I am by no means a "Lee apologist", but this has gone too far.
Put yourself in his shoes for a minute. Every radio show, TV station, and newspaper (in addition to the assholes on here) are always giving him a really hard time. Obviously, students on campus are no better either.
I know he has not performed well, but give the guy a break. Its quite obvious to me why LSU fans are considered among the worst in college football.
