I think jared’s ERA was like 4 in the first two innings, then went down to like 0.5 in the next 5 innings or so. When he got settled in, he could stack ‘em like cordwood... but those first two innings were ROUGH!

premature predictions oh wait this is the rant
Hilliard has along way to go to even be in this discussion.

i'm not going to try to convince you Hilliard isn't Nola because Hilliard is a true freshman and we haven't seen enough of him to make that comparison.
Hilliard is a kid that is way ahead of the curve for a freshman. he knows more about actual pitching than most pitchers, even upper classmen. he has excellent control and an excellent curve ball and very good change up. his fastball, while lacking velocity, is still not bad considering his size and has good movement. lastly, he's cool as a cucumber out there. at least so far. he's not really been extensively tested tho I loved his 5th inning last night. unfortunately a pitcher needs those type of innings to earn his stripes. also, his durability is unknown. most coaches don't recruit kids his size because the think smaller guys are less durable (not saying they aren't as I really don't know).
anyway, I think Hilliard is a "hell of a find" and should have a very good career here if he continues to improve, grow and adds a few MPH on his fastball. I don't think he'll be a Nola tho but I sure would like to be proved wrong.

Hilliard will add 20 lbs and 5 mph to his fastball in the next couple of years and he’s going to be a nightmare.

Whoa. Let’s settle down.
Nice selective editing. He said “in terms of wins” and Poche had more wins. Nothing to argue there.

Hilliard is the best pitcher since Lane Mestepey

You listen to Ronnie Rantz, I see.

Hilliard needs to develop an out pitch for lefties. His curve breaks down and in on lefties which is generally their sweet spot (see HR allowed last night).
He is doing extremely well now, but I think the book is getting out on him. Teams are figuring him out a little more now. As a result, batters are being more patient and he is getting behind a lot lately and having to throw his fastball when they are expecting it.

WOW, must be a fond acquaintance of yours , he’s a very good prospect but to put him in the league with Poche , Lang or even Hess for that matter is a little bit of a reach !! He may one day get there and I hope he does , but he’s not faced the level of competition yet that he is going to !! Let’s talk after year one and make our predictions !
