Anthony Hickey, BB point guard signee had a real good game last night. He was on the KY all star squad playing the IN all stars. His stats were 19 points, 8 assists and 1 TO. His counterpart on the IN team, Marquis Teague, the top-rated point guard going to KY had 18 points, 5 assists and 7 TO.

Hickey could be a steal from right under UK's nose

I hope so, solid PG play will definitely help this team take that next step.

Well I think he's probably going to be the first true point guard we have had in forever.

I have read many a post from Cat fans who saw him in the state tourney that wish they had another schollie to give.

I have grown very skeptical of TJ's talent evaluation and with good reason. But he may have fallen arse backward into a good late pick up here.

UK basketball fans up here are like Tiger fooball fans on steroids. A lot of them shrug when I talk to them about Hickey going to LSU. I think Hicky wants them to realize what a huge mistake they made,

Not a great 2nd game (looks like this was mostly because his shot wasn't falling):

2-10 FGA, 1-3 FTA, 6 pt., 6 ast., 6 rbd.

ETA: 3 TO

Did he grow a few inches or something? All the BS and negative talk about how short he was and how we don't need another 5'10" point guard.... yada yada. We will see what he can do in the SEC.

I like Teague better at the PG position, but the kid is a very good ballplayer. It certainly doesn't hurt to have someone on your team that makes the players around him better which Hickey does.

I'd be more concerned as a UK fan if we didn't have Teague at that spot. You can't have them all but glad to see him go somewhere like LSU.

At the very least looks like he can handle and defend...and all respect to Bass but I can probably shoot better. The fact that he outplayed Teague in even one of two games is encouraging.

If Hickey had sucked, this would be a 5 page bitch thread. He looked good, so it will die on page 1.

Well, we're basketball freaks Bubba so we're scratching for anything positive. And to me this is, though I've learned to temper my enthusiasm Re: Trent's recruits.

That 1 TO to 7 for Teague in the first game, with the other stats being about the same, sure looks good to me. All offense starts with the kid bringing the ball up and that's where it ended for us last year. We could never get into our offense or disrupt that of the other team.

Trent getting away from his stubborness to system and working on some motion offense and fronting the post on D etc. gives me some encouragement too.

But he still has alot to prove to me off the last two years.
